“The apology came 24 hours late. I don’t think it’s valid,” wrote one user.

tbh putting a deadline on an apology (from a celebrity, mind you) is so immature. do they really want her to learn why they're upset and be remorseful, or is it more about quickly checking off some weird parasocial PR damage control checkbox?

everyday I understand more why real celebs are less and less on social media. it's like people remove their brains to specifically be offended. not everything is posted with intentional malice jfc

Such a messy thing. She obviously didn’t mean to insult Argentina, especially with a concert there coming up next week. She most likely just reposted the story without knowing the context of it.

The thing you're not getting is that it's EXPRESSIVE. Not everyone but TOO MANY people that makes it something out of the ordinary.

I wonder if the algorithm isn't showing us this precisely to make us feel offended and outraged, just as it's now showing me all this anti-Argentina content. And instead of looking up and blaming those we should be pointing the finger at, we end up blaming each other.

No creo que sea así, y que esa actitud represente a la "mayoría". Quizás deberías salir un poco de twitter y tiktok y empezar a hablar más con la gente.

No, it's nothing new or that just happened now at this world cup or just the racism. South america as a whole has some type of reservation or wounds with Argentina. Damn, Maradona admitted that Argentina's team slipped freaking medicine into brazilian player Branco's water at the 1990 world cup in Italy. It's THAT behaviour that we have noticed for AGES, in soccer, but also when argentinians travel, when they talk about latin america. What's not clicking?

What’s interesting is the generalization, because I know firsthand that a great many Argentines (large segments of the population) aren’t like that. Now I wonder, for example, what would happen if I let my opinion of Brazil be shaped by the comments and attitudes of Bolsonaro supporters, for instance, and said that all Brazilians are like that, and that the country is defined by those people?

@Juanlittlem @loveandpeace @NemoMyName @KennyRichie what's exactly the funny thing about my comment?

I'm asking seriously. Because the issue I mention in the comment isn't a trivial one, and I'm genuinely interested in knowing your perspective on the topic that makes you laugh. I think it would be truly enlightening.

Translation for the people who want drama: Argentinians can't play the victim talking in social media about a smear or dehumanization campaign going on when it's not a new thing for Argentinians to be bigoted. "Latin American brothers", you say? Argentinian has always talked **** about their neighboring countries, making disgusting comments about physical aspect, skin color, and other cultural details all because they think they are Europeans lmao. And it's not something exclusive from a political party, from left to right they are like that, so dont play the victim and pretend this is something that started because the world cup.

Bad people exist everywhere, people in Brazil are racist too, that's why we have a law. But you're making it seem like the whole LATAM just sat a table and said "ok let's pick on Argentina cause their team is very good at soccer". It's a symptom of a long time expressive behaviour. Aside from stereotypes, a country can be classified in a expressive number of people having a similiar behaviour. Brazilians are said to be cheerful and loud and very obnouxious, Chinese people are said to be quiet and collectively respectful of each other and sometimes curious of foreigners, now, Brazilians who go to Buenos Aires and big cities love it, say it's artful and the people are nice and they go there all the time, people from my state go by car. Now, when they travel here or immigrate, and when soccer is involved, it's chaos, littering, fights, confusion and racism. Aside from a team that plays very dirty. So, don't worry, we know it's not a 100% everyone who acts a certain way. But argentinians leave an impression and if the whole LATAM is saying something collectively, maybe it's not a "they're picking on me, mom" situation.
