As an Argentine I'm gonna weigh in:

Does Argentina have issues with institutionalized and social racism ? yes

Is the far right president currently looking to sell Patagonia to foreign (mainly US and Israel based) companies ? also yes.

Is it also proven that Team Jorge ( the name given to an outfit of Israeli contractors specialized in the use of malign cyber activities including hacking, sabotage, and bot farm-run social media disinformation campaigns to manipulate the outcomes of elections) is involved on the smear campaign that happened during the world cup ? Also yes.

See, we need to have a discussion about racism in this country, but the people leading it should be afro Argentines and Argentine native people, not anyone who happens to belong to an imperialist country. When you look at social media, the algorythm has been functionally drowning afro argentine and native discourses in favor of other discourses (look at the metrics).

The history of Argentina makes racism even harder to discuss when the "whitening" discourse exists, which is only partially historically accurate, but whole generations of Argentines (and the rest of the world) bought into it.

Argentina's ethnic composition is explained mainly by:

a) a relatively low number of slaves being trafficked into the country (200k counting both colonial and post colonial history, compared to 5M from Brasil or 400k in the US after independence). Also, the "they sent black people to war with promises of freedom and they died there" argument is not true, just look up the historical records, most of the argentine army was composed of Criollos and the war everyone refers to happened 11 years after abolition.

b) early abolition (1813 freedom of wombs, and full aboliton in 1853)

c) no segregation. This part actually served in favor of Sarmiento's racist policies since people freely mixed with immigrants from europe.

d) a strong native component (over a third of the country has native roots)

e) other important immigration waves like the Syrian Lebanese wave, the third in importance overall, and the more recent waves from other Latinamerican countries, Asia and Africa.

That makes Argentina functionally a mixed country, but the discourse from the early eurocentrist XIX century governments unfortunately penetrated too deep.

Also, before I hear a single "nazi Argentina" argument, we never pardoned a single war criminal unlike other countries who the majority of this forum's users may belong to.

btw, Argentina is nowhere near the top of countries by reported hate crimes (and we've recorded those for over three decades)

In summary, my country has it's problems with racism, there's no way and no point in denying it, every country with a history of colonialism has racist people. But even when that is taken into account, comparatively, the smear campaing is exagerated.

And no, this is not only about football.

Me personally, I'll enjoy her concert, I've had tickets since december and a repost is not that deep. Everything surrounding it and the deeply xenophobic comments on the thread on the other hand... check yourselves before taking the moral high ground sweeties, stop projecting.

How can you be this pressed and salty about soccer? While I didn't watch the Trump Cup, uh, World Cup, I read multiple stories of Argentinian players' bad behavior. They already made themselves look like spoiled kids on the field, maybe they should stop doing it even after losing.

Mister Gaga

While some countries have concentration camps for immigrants, special police forces to chase immigrants, civil wars, apartheid, impossible VISA requirements, literal colonies in multiple continents, a well documented history of bombings, race erasure and slavery, somehow, argentina is the villan, a country that receives immigrants with open arms, free healthcare for every human being, free education for every human being, work without VISA, first country in the continent with LGBT laws, first country in the continent to forbid slavery and racial differences , a third world country with a broken currency, signaled by powerful hands covered in blood from the actual victims of their respective countries; brains rotten by twitter trends and vulnerable minds that will surrender to any current progressive narrative.
