I'm in the minority in the sense that I don't particularly have the vitriol that others have for these live-action remakes. I don't care for them, but I also completely understand why they're making them, so I don't blame them for it. People online will complain all day, but many of them will still go and watch them.

That said, out of all the animated movies to do, Moana makes no sense. They just had a 2nd movie not too long ago, and the property isn't even old. They're not even playing on the nostalgia factor like the other films. It also just looks really bad...

Apparently it’s an almost 1:1 recreation even down to the camera angles chosen. I think live action remakes at Disney has ran out.

It’s really unfortunate. If they were going to continue down this route, I think the only ones left I’d be interested in is live action Hercules or Atlantis. Possibly a reimagining or sequel to Fantasia/Fantasia 2000  orrrr an Incredibles series could be fun exploring other superheroes in the past.

Idk why they spend so much resources on remakes instead of making new stories. They should know by now that everyone hates these most of the time FFS :ladyhaha:

agreed, i understand why they're doing it to their older IPs (90s and older), these kids now have their own kids and yeah sure, banking on nostalgia

but moana is just bizarre, whoever managed to get that green lit should be working in hostage negotiation

mother, what must i do?

Because no one is going to watch their new stories. Disney isn’t putting out hit movie after hit movie anymore and that’s why they’re relying on these live actions and sequels that nobody asked for. They’re playing with the nostalgic feelings of the public.

I knew it was out already & heard it's actually okay,  but not interested enough to watch.

I'm curious with Hercules LA tho.

Planning to watch Odyssey this Wednesday & Evil Dead Burn on Fri or next Monday

I didn't even know it was out.. I was so not interested.. and the trailers helped to keep me uninterested.

With this money they could have make another Moaning Moana movie, or better, a totally new story with new characters.

Well they did do that sequel so they wanted both :laughga:
