Thank you. I’m really sick of every award show turning into the fckn VMAs. The fact that Olivia Rodrigo is even in the *conversation* for AOTY is wild to me. Like out of *all* of the albums, across every genre, this teeny bopper pop rock record is the best one? Methinks not.

It is. The only song that is not eligible is Glamorous Life, because its not in the movie and its not the first song to play in the credits. Both Runway and SOAW are eligible. They just have to pick which one to submit.

I disagree. There have been plenty of lackluster, forgettable songs nominated for Best Original Song over the years. I think the main reason you don't see this as Oscar-worthy is that it's a campy pop song. Not every nominee has to be a somber ballad to deserve recognition.

Is it Gaga's best work? No. But it's far from bad. Within the context of the film and the category, I think at least one of the songs deserves a nomination. Personally, I'd pick Shape of a Woman over Runway, although Runway being the main single, might ultimately be the more strategic choice from an awards campaign perspective.

Not the basis of my reasoning at all. The basis of my reasoning is that I think neither are exceptionally written songs, regardless of style or genre.

If that’s the standard you hold the Oscars to, then yes, both songs would be welcome additions, I guess.
