RAMROD 117,011
Nobody care about Supergirl, this is not surprising whatsoever. She is not even top 20 of JLA historically. Weird move to make her the second movie of the rebooted DCU franchise. It should've been another big name movie after Superman. It's setting up her character bc she's an important part of a crisis event they're working towards in the universe ✨️ I do think maybe it would've been a better idea to follow the Woman of Tomorrow source material more closely and make it a limited series though. Head Empty 26,965
I watch most Marvel and DC content but both have been fumbling so bad DC really needed a strong fresh start (and maybe a bigger break). Between the Snyderverse, the Robert Patterson Batman, Joker (+ FAD), a few TV shows and now the new Superman movies... Too much is happening without a clear direction. How do they expect audiences to be invested if the brand can't even stick to one clear narrative for more than a year? They were lucky Superman did decently but now they're wasting the little bit of momentum they had by introducing a character that very few people are genuinely hyped for. It's such a waste because DC has an incredible wealth of interesting and complex characters. It's just that the brand itself has no idea how to play to its own strengths.

In the comics she's an important character, but only comics readers knows her lore, mythos and importance to the whole story.. but for the GP she's basically the female superman and here it ends. I watched it last night and that was my issue with it. Took place in space in random planets, aliens, and lore I didnt know. I was confused half the time why she wasn’t using her superpowers. Would’ve been better if it took place on earth like Superman did tbh.

Doomsday and the new Spider-Man movie are 2 of the most anticipated releases this year. Clayface is getting a lot of hype too. Supergirl isn't getting the attention DC was hoping for because they cut out all the aspects of the story that made it great to fit neatly into a summer "Blockbuster" and the public is always very ready to hate women anyway. The original story is more of a 3-hour psychedelic, somber fall/winter film. But DC can't do that because they needed to hurry up and get Supergirl into the universe for the bigger story. People are tired of formulaic hero movies but the studios are scared to take chances and break out of the cookie cutter because of the cost. REALITY 80,162
It's funny to see this "superhero movies are so over" rheotric when Spider-Man Brand New Day and Doomsday are going to demolish at the box office. People aren't over superhero content, they're over bad/mediocre superhero content. I haven't seen Supergirl yet myself, but the general consensus is that it's not a good movie. That, combined with the fact that the character isn't even that popular, isn't a recipe for success. Also, the movie seems very derivative. I know it's not directed by James Gunn, but it's incredibly Guardians of the Galaxy coded. I do not want the DCU to just be the James Gunn universe. It needs to have different voices and stylistic choices. 𝔗𝔥𝔢 𝔪𝔬𝔫𝔰𝔱𝔢𝔯 𝔱𝔬𝔯𝔢 𝔞𝔴𝔞𝔶 𝔦𝔱𝔰 𝔪𝔞𝔰𝔨 𝔞𝔫𝔡...𝔦𝔱𝔰 𝔣𝔞𝔠𝔢 𝔴𝔞𝔰 𝔪𝔦𝔫𝔢. 1

We don’t need 10 movies of the same character Jfc How can no one give an f when they are usually the highest grossing movies? FurankiGaga 74
I've watched it. This first movie is pale in comparison to Wonder Woman or Capt Marvel. Not that it's gonna get a second movie. The plot, the characters & esp fighting scenes are just monotonous, nothing new to see esp if you've watched too much superhero movies lol. Milly Alcock was cute tho, and I liked her interactions with Krypto & Clark Should've watched that viral Obsession movie Edited June 29 by FurankiGaga <333
Creyk 18,636
Only hardcore comic fans care about this character and the actress actively antagonized them 3 separate times with her belligerent comments, so this kinda makes sense.
