I’m sure she’s a great person and I love her, but I believe once you’ve reached a certain level of fame, success and money, you automatically become disconnected from reality and you can’t help it. Because it’s all about you and people always want something from you.And I believe she’s right there. That does NOT mean she doesn’t care or anything, but she’s at a place where she won’t do too much and it’s okay. She’s done a lot for us, and it worked. But 2010Ga is kinda dead and I don’t blame her for that. It’s just something you can’t avoid, me thinks. (unless your success isn’t too big obviously.) I don’t mind her not posting about Pride Month cause we know her heart is with us. What disturbs me more is the fact that she didn’t say anything about the Madison Square Garden staff being unapologetically transphobic, or other things like that. Specific things she has some power over. I'm gonna ask her why she isnt more outspoken about this administration, the war on gaza, the conflict in ukraine, the war on iran, the epstein files, the declining economy, the housing market, AI replacing our jobs oh and why isnt she filing my taxes like wtf??? does she not care

I don't see pride as something superificial, but as a reminder that people are here for us, show support. I feel sad that Gaga and other celebs don't post anything while it's so important especually this year Celebs are all pawns of capitalism. Don't ever expect anything from 'em. Gaga, Billie Eilish, Taylor... they all do nothing but great music. Edited Tuesday at 02:31 PM by anton
gagzus 21,841
People put far too much weight on a post, I think people are overreacting she’s not been active properly on social media for like years and people forget that. She only starts using it again when she has things to promote; because that’s what social media is now it’s all engagement and ads. So I don’t expect her to post anything at all rarely considering social media is the toilet. Plus she’s a bisexual woman her whole existence is pride, and considering she’s done more for LGBTQ+ people in her whole career than her peers posting about it — I wouldn’t worry.

A woman who performed Born This Way every night for the better part of the past year, mind you. Would it be a nice gesture? Sure. Do I think it’s necessary at this point? No. I’m not even being defensive of her so much as I genuinely don’t understand the weight/fixation that people place on posting something on social media. If you don’t see Gaga as an advocate for and supporter of the LGBTQ+ community unless she posts something on IG, that borders on object impermanence lmao I can't begrudge people (it's me, I'm people) their desire to have their chosen gay icon/ally be a consistent and vocal presence, especially during a month that's meant to draw attention to the fights we've fought, the ones we're fighting, and the ones we have to fight in the future. It's not about her proving herself. We know she's an ally and she's been an activist for two decades. It would just be nice if we knew we could count on her to be a vocal presence. I'm certainly not asking for token tweets or virtue signalling. Her platform is huge, she should wield it constantly imo. Otherwise, what's the point of having a platform? Since Trump took office again, nearly 2,000 anti-trans bills have been introduced across the country, almost 200 have actually become law. In 2025, 1,042 hate crimes against LGBTQ+ people were reported in the US, which is a 5% rise over 2024. 76 violent assaults, 128 acts of hateful vandalism, 22 threats of mass violence, and 15 arson attempts, 90 injuries, 10 deaths. 51% of the crimes targeted trans people specifically. The DoJ (of every administration) has estimated the real rates are 25x higher than reported due to queer people simply feeling unsafe when coming forward or attacks on queer people not being labelled "hate crimes". The number of attacks spiked during June last year too. The bigots take action during Pride month so why are the allies quiet? She and every other platformed person who ever claimed to be an ally should be posting this info year 'round but ESPECIALLY during Pride Month with actionable information like links to find local organizations to volunteer and the numbers to your representatives at every level to harass them into submission on these disgusting laws. Activism requires action. Silence is violence. Idk, pick an idiom. And really, a simple "happy pride" is not only the easiest thing to do, it IS helpful because celebrating the community is a win itself. It's really not much to want. Again, we agree on the substance that these issues obviously matter, I’ll just never see social media advocacy and “visibility” as the same thing as activism and I think a lot of folks (not necessarily you specifically) misplace emphasis on who is at the vanguard of solving political issues. I just think these types of conversations are a borderline waste of time when I think there are people with more direct influence over LGBTQ+ policy than Lady Gaga or any celebrity. Like, I don't like how 2020s so far have been the opposite of 2010s, where so many people with a platform succumbed to MAGA & Zionism out of fear they might get their career halted for speaking out against them, than having speak thy mind attitude that's so prevalent in 2010s Maybe Gaga just have too much to lose now? IDK Like 100% understand why her saying happy pride month is important for some people. After all, her music literally keep some of us alive. It sounds crazy and dramatic, but this really happened. I just think these types of conversations are a borderline waste of time when I think there are people with more direct influence over LGBTQ+ policy than Lady Gaga or any celebrity. That's fair. I've eased off her on this issue anyway 'cause, for my own mental health, I kinda keep tabs on what she does specifically as activism. Two quotes I keep in my notes app: "The LGBTQ+ community and the queer community has led the way in entertainment and in art for so long that to ignore or push down this community is wrong. And to me, it's a violence." "It's not just about what I say when I'm on stage. If I win a Grammy, it has to be what I do every day." It sounds like she wanted to clock me personally with that second one 'cause I did complain that it took a Grammy for her to offer a platitue to the they/thems, FTM, and MTF crowd Anyway, just a couple things for those of us that have lost faith at times: The BTWF put $5 million into the "Kindness in Community Fund" which itself supports a ton of smaller LGBTQ charities and programs across several countries. Could miss billionaire have given more? Absolutely and my socialist, billionaire hating ass will say so 'cause I only become more radicalized by the day. But she could have also given nothing 'cause she got zero press for this. She just did it 'cause it was right. She's actively funded groups like the Marsha P. Johnson Institute and the Black Trans Advocacy Coalition. Again, zero press but made a real difference. And the Youth Advisory Board, empowering and providing resources for young LGBTQ people to become leaders in the community and in their own general communities. I'm sure there's a lot more 'cause these are just a few that pop up when you actually look. She walks the walk But it would still be nice to have that "Happy Pride, Monsters " and a consistently active, vocal platform along with her undercover acts. To diminish their feeling about this, like some have replied her is pretty insulting tbh Well, her husband is a Zionist and she's a big Israel fan If you believe the TikTok comments anyway. Which...I don't but it's the age of alternate facts so be wild, be free, I say. I don't think it's dramatic at all. It's a bit like wanting your mom to tell you she loves you but when you express that desire people say "well, she gave birth to you, feeds you, and buys your clothes, why are you complaining?!" It's not as parasocial as all that but it's in the same spirit. She used to stand on the white house lawn and scream at presidents. It's absolutely valid to be put off by her total silence during Pride Month. Whimsical bitch
