ChromaticaBoy 1,111
By reading the previous posts I can see we all agree on one thing: Gaga should stop taking roles related to music because she needs to separate her stage persona from her acting persona. And I believe that comes from the realization that she is such a good actress! Like somebody said previously, I also really enjoyed her role in HOG and that proved that she doesn’t need her music background to be great as an actress, because she’s just that good. Honestly I can’t wait for her next acting role, but I hope she takes a different road this time. I would love to see her in a Luca Guadagnino’s movie, I can already hear her “LG, Luca Guadagnino, flip it around, Lady Gaga”, no but seriously, I think he could bring out the best of her. Then I would also love to see her in a sci-fi movie.
Roughhouse Dandy 13,393
I'm all for her being a musical queen, but a Jane Campion musical has me worried. Whatever though. Just keep away from rom-coms and I won't complain This is my Hannah Montana™️ lipgloss.
MOT 3,575
I'd like to see her in a non-musical and non-over-the-top role, but ..... if she gets offered a leading role in a high-profile musical remake of a famous movie with a star director should she turn it down ?? No she shouldn't. It could turn out to be a good movie, and even if it doesn't don't forget that they paid her 12m for JFAD.

Kayioshka 3,199
I don’t trust it, it sounds like a fan theory. The Telephone act II thing is very popular, so I bet it’s a fan who wrote this. But, if it turns out to be true... It will be the second time that a fan manage to get to Gaga an Hollywood movie role (Wednesday bc of Bloody Mary). In my peace era. I just hope she picks the right projects, no matter what style or genre they are. But tbf, on paper, HoG and Joker seemed excellent; she was just extremely unlucky imo. I think HoG suffered because of the pandemic it was hard for reshoots and they didn't take the time to flesh it out a bit more. Plus the accents hindered it greatly. Had they just kept their normal accents I think they could've delivered great monologues. I mean yeah we're pop f*gs here but we forget she was in a RIDLEY SCOTT movie with AL PACINO like that's HUGE. Joker was doomed from the casting announcement because all the DC fans complained it isn't like Joker in the comics and the incels who loved the original basically said she was "too ugly" to be Harley. The music aspect of Joker actually works but I think because of it's attachment to a pre-established character in a property in the post-MCU world -- it was pretty doomed anyway. And fans hated the twist that in the end Arthur WASN'T the actual Joker it was his friend. I also recall her saying she'd love to do a romcom next at some point, but maybe i'm misremembering.

For me, the biggest issues with HoG were the accents and the editing. The accents were crazy and jarring, making the film camp when it wasn't supposed to be. The editing was equally as atrocious too. Scenes were weirdly cut, and it felt like a montage of random scenes instead of an actual movie sometimes. The casting was great, and of course, Scott is an iconic director. It was a shame the movie wasn't as good as it could've been. Regarding Joker, the movie was destined to be high risk/high reward. I don't think it was doomed from the casting announcement. Not all DC fans complained, but a vocal sect of them did. Any fan who was complaining that Gaga was "too ugly" is the same kind of person who'll complain about any POC or women-led project in the comic book space. And those people don't make up a majority of the moviegoing audience. The musical aspect could've worked, but it was just poorly executed. I think the movie would've been a thousand times better if Phillips just did this gritty but comic book-y, Bonnie & Clyde-esque movie with weird, surreal musical sequences sprinkled throughout. The film could've been something truly unique and interesting, but Phillips threw that all away. I actually liked the twist that Joaquin's Joker wasn't THE Joker, and I think it would've been received better had the rest of the movie been better. I hope Gaga and her team truly start considering the content of what is written vs. the director... the prestige-chasing is getting her nowhere. So many prestige directors make terrible films.
pucihendzap 397
I see her in the movies like: -Drama -Id kick you if I had legs -Dreams (Franco) -Die, my love -Together -Sorry, baby -Materialist -Longlegs Also, she would consider/be considered to one of the movie directors: Sean Baker, Ari Aster, Coralie Fargeat, Rose Glass, Todd Haynes, Emerald Fennel, Aronofonsky. DO NOT TAKE PART IN: -DCU movies -Marvel movies -Any kind of comedies -'Prestige' names whose gold time passed -Cameo in Netflix series -Musicals -Devil Wears Prada 3

And people like Elizabeth Olsen and Katherine Hahn have proved that you can treat Marvel as a serious project. Plus selfishly as a Marvel Comics fan I'd die for my icon to be in my much loved piece of media. Elizabeth Olsen's career arguably skyrocketed after playing Wanda, people just have this weirdly pretentious way of looking at franchises nowadays. The pros of working for Marvel is your workload becomes consistent and if you're a well known character you become basically a staple. The con is commitment (which Feige has changed in contracts thankfully now) and sometimes -- just like Gaga with musicals -- you can become typecast as an action or comedy only actor. Also there's nothing wrong with her being in literally anything you mentioned. She doesn't need to be in some unique oscar bait indie film to be a good actress. Being a good actor is being believable and being separated from your public persona in your work. Which Gaga arguably did in HoG specifically.
