Gaga in New Jane Campion Film?

So it's now been confirmed that Oscar-winning director Jane Campion is working on a new film, and she's said it'll be her first musical.

There have been rumors floating around for the last couple of years that it's actually a remake of Thelma & Louise, with Gaga and Beyoncé set to star. But then another rumor popped up last year claiming Beyoncé had left the project, and that they're now looking for another A-list singer or actress to star alongside Gaga.

Just curious what everyone thinks about this. Would you be interested in seeing a Jane Campion musical, especially if Gaga is involved? Or after the whole Joker 2 situation, are you kind of over movie musicals for a while?

Personally, I'm intrigued by the idea of seeing Gaga in a Jane Campion film. That said, after how underwhelming Joker 2 turned out, I can't help but have a few reservations.

If Gaga is serious about acting, she needs to do a film where she isn't essentially playing a character you can associate with her stage personality. 

She's never going to get the success she wants without breaking the mould yet she continues to pick up the campy/over the top and/or musical roles.

I hate to see that she's totally locked into a genre and that Hollywood is either booking her for cameos or singing role (or both). I kinda hope she's not involved tbh

i don't believe she hasn't received any indie movie role in low budget film with more ambitious script. I am pretty sure she's looking for more prestige names and that's how it ends.

This 1000%. I think it’s more about the people for her than the script most of the time.

even if it is a musical and you’re boxing yourself into a type, you just don’t say no to Jane Campion.
