he’s generalising which isn’t great but there’s something to be said about the bad teachers that instil fear and are horrible to children/repeat harmful rhetoric such as “you’ll never amount to x y or z”. projecting your own feelings of failure onto children is very weird!

Yeah a rich guy taking the piss out of the minimum wage and saying he can't stand teachers is pretty clear.

okay lol. In this context i feel like he's just defending the person he's talking to and exaggerating a bit for comedic effect. Teachers do cause trauma sometimes and tell kids they have to limit themselves. There's also a racial component to that experience where it happens more to black kids.

Either way who cares what Tracy Morgan thinks, he's not the secretary of education

I mean Marcello has a point and hits on something ADHD kids see all the time - but notice how he's defending teachers?

Meanwhile, even after that point. Morgan goes onto further attack teachers. 

If we want to start talking about issues of bigotry. Tracey Morgan has said he'd stab his son if he came out as gay. Let's not act like he's some moral arbiter talking on legitimate issues facing black kids or kids with SEND.

Hi, Black teacher here. I get that discipline disproportionately affects students of color, but that mainly comes from admin, not the teacher.

Also, kids go to school to learn, right? So a part of what they learn is self-regulation. Good teachers are able to redirect misguided behaviors without causing emotional trauma. I would say that 9/10 teachers are able to teach without traumatizing their students. Obviously there are going to be bad teachers but that's definitely the exception and not the rule.

This whole discourses sucks, especially today when teachers are getting 💩 on from all sides. Having celebrities (however irrelevant) speak out about how teachers deserve less or are misguided doesn't help us at all. Especially when we're literally under attack from the current administration.

Unless they were verbally abusive, which I have faced. You are absolutely right that in some cases there can be a "I get it", but as someone who has seen verbally abusive teachers there are valid reasons to still be upset.
