I’m sorry but the way she is so definitively ending MAYHEM in such a pronounced way is really giving what’s next is (somewhat) around the corner in Gaga terms

Yeah I'd say the same idk

Ns but I also don’t really get anyone being particularly dissatisfied with the amount of content we got this era lol. We got a great album, a reissue with three bonus tracks, a live reimagining of the album with a coinciding concert film, she headlined Coachella and Copacabana, headlined one of the greatest tours/live shows of her career which will likely be released as a concert film this year, she dropped two of the best vids of her career, she performed way more TV and radio promo spots than is industry standard at this point…thoroughly fed. Could she have done a couple more MVs? Sure. Is the era incomplete w/o them? Definitely not.

Truly her best album and era since Born This Way. The only thing that surprises me is that I thought we’d get more music videos. Chromatica being a pandemic album and got 3, Mayhem finally being the return to pop music gets 2 (not counting Die With A Smile clearly a pre LG7 single, The Dead Dance and Runway attached to movies). Like you say, the lack of music videos doesn’t take away from the amazing era that it was.

Valid too, especially knowing that they’ve released the Chromatica Ball film despite the whole thing being… not so good

But idk, I don’t think it’s impossible. Cause either way, it won’t generate a lot of profit. Maybe they could release it right before announcing the LG8 Ball?

Lol so if she doesn’t release professional footage of tours where she breaks her hip or has an autoimmune flair up, fans hold it against her forever and say she’s being a perfectionist etc., and when she does release one, it gets called “not so good.”

And, what is your source for saying it won’t generate a lot of profit? Clearly, the money streaming platforms shell out for licensing and ongoing royalties off these tour films is enough to make it worthwhile to the point where nearly every pop act releases one.

You can't be serious... Chromatica had 0 promo thanks to pandemic. Sour Candy MV, Babylon and Alice as singles would've been smash. :traumatica:

Yeah, I think it feels that way as fans because people are always hungry for more. If you scroll through her website, there is a timeline of everything she's done and accomplished in the past year. There is a tremendous amount of work that goes into each performance, show, project, side quest, etc. from scheduling, timing, ideation, execution, budget management, travel... on top of the artistic pursuit no less. It probably takes weeks to prepare for one TV performance which we finish consuming in 4 minutes. I'm so proud of all her hard work and for sharing this music which I'll listen to forever.

This is exactly what I think gets taken for granted. Because the gratification of consumption is instantaneous, people expect the rate of production to keep up with that which is just…not realistic if you want the content to be good. Like you, I’m genuinely amazed by how much she’s done this era and this album, the tour, and REQUIEM will be pieces of Gaga media I will cherish for years to come

You’re bang on with this. I also think she focused heavily on the tour this era, which makes sense considering she’s now mostly pain free and is enjoying performing without those concerns.

I’ve also been thinking quite a bit about the language we use here - and I do this as well so this isn’t a callout - in terms of what fans “get” and what they “deserve”. It’s kinda just continuous expectation of more and more content to consume, regardless of Gaga’s influence or artistry or what she feels inspired to do.

This was the first era since BTW that didnt feel short, hollow or rushed/incomplete

We got 4 singles, 4 music videos, several interviews, 2 cameos, a huge tour (with minimal cancellations), chart success and most importantly Gaga appearing genuinly happy this time

This was fantastic. While I am sad to see era end, I am satiafied with it, and its the first time I say that about an album era in 15 years!

Now someone is spreading rumours that there is going to be a stadium tour for the end of Mayhem on the west coast of the USA, another rumour is a Fifa concert which would make more sense because of the rumored Abel colab fir the world cup.
