6 years ago today (May 29th) Lady Gaga released her 6th studio album “Chromatica” featuring the #1 and GRAMMY winning smash hit “Rain on Me” with Ariana Grande.

The album gets a lot of flack amongst fans but let’s celebrate the album for how fun it is and it marked Gaga’s return to her dance music roots. Inspired by early 90s House and featuring the then-viral “Chromatica II into 911” trend that was happening on TikTok in lockdown.

It also spawned the Chromatica Ball Tour that made Gaga have the desire to return to Pop music properly (for Mayhem).

What’s your favourite moments and memories of the album? What’s your favourite tracks?

the rest are all very mid

Pronounced like “Balenciaga” . Emphasis on the “Ga”

NUTELLA

When I think of Chromatica, the first thing that comes to my mind is Rain On Me. That was a fun pandemic distraction, if only for a while.

I almost never listen to the album anymore, but I enjoy ROM, Babylon, Enigma & Replay

Over here in the UK it was THE song of the Pandemic. To the point it revived interest and love from the public alongside all the stuff she did during the pandemic to help people.

I still remember the day we FINALLY got to dance to it in a club a year and half after the album came out. Also remember being wine drunk in zoom with my friends listening to the album

GAGA IS GROOVY

Big thank you to Chromatica for resurrecting my love for Lady Gaga, which had dwindled since ARTPOP, was on its deathbed and was in dire need of life support.

Gaga's return to fun, frivolous pop reawakened the dormant Little Monster inside me and forced it to raise its f**kin' hands in the air and DANCE. Battle for your LIFE, Babylon!

The Chromatica Ball tour was my first time seeing Gaga live and it was a transcendent experience - a brutalist celebration and horror-filled spectacle of dancing through pain and fear - the ultimate way to abandon the years of the covid-induced nightmare we had all endured.

Chromatica is not Gaga at her best, but it represents the beginning of her rebirth - the door Gaga had sealed shut for almost a decade slowly being allowed to open again and paving the way for MAYHEM and her true beautiful revival.

HAPPY 6TH BIRTHDAY CHROMATICA!

ROM wasn’t as great as I thought it would be tbh but it’s still a banger and I do like Sine From Above too!

Alice, ROM, 911, Replay and Enigma are the best songs on it!

I remember streaming it on the TV on Spotify the night it came out and drinking and just enjoying the album and life! Also watching the interview with Graham Norton that she did and then buying the CD the next day!

Such a nostalgic album for me. I revisit it most frequently, after Mayhem.

Same. Chromatica is such a nostalgic vibe, reminds me of early covid and a different world.
