imogen2133 461
So obviously if someone came up to you and asked you about Gaga in 2010 or 2011 or anywhere around that time people would (I presume) say she was a performance artist, a musician, someone who wears Avant guard and bold fashion, someone who cares deeply about her fans, someone who can sing live, someone who really gives no f*cks about what people say about her and someone who is brave, someone who cares about social rights and fighting for her fans, someone who has a unique perspective on music and the music industry, someone who puts on amazing, spectacle driven live shows, someone who cares deeply about pop music, someone who cares deeply about art and someone who is very funny and doesn't take herself too seriously. If someone came up to you and asked you about Gaga and what kind of artist she is now how would you describe her and discuss her?
PornoDanceFight 1,981
I don't see how anything you described is any different from who she is as an artist now, so I'd say the same thing. 2

River 126,231
I think she's in her prime. Rickywham! was a glimpse of her artistry, she produced the songs live, it was amazing to see her creating and working on the music, while singing and performing. It was mind blowing. She's still all u said.. but she never could achieve her full potential because despite her success, the acclaim, changing pop music, changing pop culture.. Interscope still didn't believe in her vision and still pushed her down. But now, Michael is investing most of the money and interscope only need to publish and do some promo, she has full control on her creativity and with Mayhem we saw what she's really capable of. So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

onTheBrink 800
I think she said it best when she described MAYHEM's creative process. She finished Perfect Celebrity, and she had this urge to modify everything she'd already done to fit its grunge sound. But later, she realized that she didn't need to push to make everything cohere. Everything could stand on its own and make something beautiful, without needing to be in control of that process. She is whole in her brokenness. If anything, I’d say she’s a far more well-rounded artist now than she was 13 years ago. She fully fleshed out and showcased her abilities as a jazz singer, a more traditional songwriter, and an actress and, through MAYHEM and Harlequin, wove them into the meta superstructure of the Gaga narrative/aesthetic. GagaCarpet 16
I would say she is an ARTIST. I truly dont see her as a pop singer anymore, i see her as an artist. With a deep understanding of the world around her, a true artistic vision, and I would say her biggest creation is herself as the person who creates and the creation at the same time. As she said before, she is an eternal student of the various crafts, she explores them all, and has an undeniable talent and discipline to create her art. She also has somthing that makes her fans feel interested in things they never thought they would like. I think she breathes art and thats why her work feels so authentic Everything I say is a lie, including this sentence. 1

mlmc1995 56
I would say that she’s an artist who has always been extremely talented and successful, but she’s now at a point where she’s producing her best work because, as she’s said herself, she is a continuous student of music. She strives to improve and has a curiosity and drive to try new things, fulfil her creativity, she knows that she still has so much more to do and explore. Plus she’s now in a place where she can do that whilst also being healthy, happy and no longer reliant on drugs and alcohol.
AVeryGagaHolyDick 31,422
Let’s not pretend she’s fearless and doesn’t give af what people say about her nowadays, guys She’s still a wonderful artist, and a million times more accomplished but she clearly isn’t bold like she used to be and it’s okay. Sometimes it’s a great thing, sometimes it’s not. But regardless of what one thinks of it, she’s hardly boundary-pushing nowadays. Her career is much more PR-driven now than it was up until ARTPOP, for the best and for the worst.
