Mine: 1. Abracadabra + The week of release 2. DC MAYHEM Ball (My most recent Gaga concert, and my favorite one thus far also. She just keeps getting better live) 3. Gagacabana (No one expected that she would slay this hard) 3. Mayhem Requiem - she pleased every fan and set a new benchmark again. Apec 234 Posted May 31 Share Posted May 31 (edited) Sorry for being so late, but I want to add my two cents and break the rules even though the 4th item is technically not Mayhem the album itself (even though I want a 5th "moment" 😭) : - Gagacabana/The MBT (which got every note even more right with its many surprises, beautiful and sensational changes and made the story climb to new heights) - I agree with the Rolling Stone interviews - she showed us her enthusiasm (the Disease producing side dissecting video) yet didn't shy away from telling her reporter for her cover issue what she's been struggling with the last ten+ years (some things we knew, some we didn't, some the severity/timing we DEFINITELY didn't have a clue about) and the way Gaga and Michael talk about each other is what soulmates sound like, people who'd do everything to make the other happy and cared for emotionally and physically - this is probably the first time she's ever felt this way and I wish her such feelings of being loved, being cared for instead of being the sole carer in what's supposed to be a two-way street, and treasured like the brilliant gem of a person she is forever, because she deserves it. ☺️ She's a musical genius, a lover and a fighter, a survivor and the sweetest gem. 💎 She's still that rebel who, despite having been through SO MUCH, keeps creating work that surpasses and surprises, both emotionally, voice-wise, structurally, genre-mixing-wise (but always having that Gaga DNA and Gaga stamp) and then visually/touring-wise she turns musical art in audiovisual art and still reaches higher and higher. She's humble, yet she's become a legend before turning 40... I wish her love and happiness and support like described above, always /end of rambling - Those two awesome performances she gave for a radio station, KCRW. One much more developed, textured and heavenly version of Abra than the (also great) acoustic version she debuted on Howard Stern and my favorite of the two "stripped-down" VIY performances (ofc, when she recorded this one she probably wasn't making her doctor sigh like with the Stephen Colbert one when she was still recovering from vocal fatigue but sounded amazing anyway as if that's normal), but I love how she played around here and sounded incredibly angelic and strong, a balance our Ga is unbelievably familiar with. - Cheating but not really: Everything Mayhem Requiem. It's technically another album? The reimaginings, the symbolism, the fantastic concert that truly wrapped up the story of The Mistress of Mayhem and EtherealGa in a way that could just as well still spawn dozens of interpretations (and does) - but that's Gaga, and the beauty of it all. No choreo, "just" her and the band making music, transforming each song and hearing everything from pure grit, growls and pure power belts to sweet, gorgeous lighter-than air chants and everything in between. An emotional rollercoaster while she and her band were playing their instruments and the 80's music lover in me got a kick out of Gaga using those real synth machines (which I knew she loved, but seeing her in action with them for a live album was truly the cherry on top ), those big boxes with 50 knobs, slides and handles. Why? Because they create instead of copy, and it's only natural Gaga loves them when you look at how focused she is on innovation in her own way - meaning: not innovation for the sake of it, but naturally being drawn to creating newness, to iterate on an idea and being attracted to the versions she makes that are obviously hers, but because she loves seemingly ALL genres and wouldn't be able to stick to just one in the first place, she craves innovation. The themes here are so rich and I am so mesmerized by Requiem I keep watching as much as this exhausted person can. On that note: - Disease. The song (lyrics, vocal layers, all production details), the video (!!!), everything. /takes cover Apparently I can't count to three...ahem. Sorry!
