this reminds me of damiano david. he has a voice JFC!!! now, they saw that and put him singing pop. it's a waste of his beautiful, powerful voice in my opinion. it actually saddens me.

Well, yes and no.

She hasn't done makeup or anything else, which is commendable, but her fortune is only as big as it is 'cause she uses her music as a product and weaponizes predatory sales tactics like "limited release windows" or "variants". Abusing fans' and collectors' FOMO and desire to support her.

It's true for Musk, Bezos, or Taylor Swift. You don't become a billionaire without taking advantage of others.

The "pop artists are hollow" are coming from rock and jazz community of old. Mainly because for them most pop music artists are manufactured, didn't say anything of value, and many were not able to play music instruments. Boybands and Britney Spears and co got a lot of flack back in the day.

Except Taylor did release a whole line of perfumes back in the day, starting with Wonderstruck. There were spin-off fragrances too. According to Wikipedia, she also did a clothing line with L.E.I and then a later one with Stella McCartney (which was in 2019, a year before she released this album where she "went out into the woods and wrote music." She also did a makeup range with CoverGirl. Let's not forget the countless brand deals she did with major brands like Sony, Starbucks, Keds, Subway, Diet Coke, Walgreens, Walmart and Papa John's. Plus all her music/streaming exclusives. And of course, all the pitiful times she tried to act in movies. It may look as if all she does is create music but dig a little deeper and there's more story there. Her most major output is music but there's a whole lot of other failed ventures there that she won't want you to know about.

She would've 100% taken all these failed ventures further if they'd done well. But they didn't, she just moved on and realised that music is her only real talent and she should just stick to what she knows. I can respect her knowing her limits but to act like she's an anti-capitalist artist who completely devotes herself to music is just not it.

I'm surprised this hasn't been brought up, but her version of unnecessary corporate shill-out product is very clearly the redundant and excess physical/digital albums she coerces her fans to buy. She doesn't get to claim that she's an artist who doesn't engage in commerce when that is literally her whole shtick, flex, and purpose for being lol
