Lest we forget the “Chaos Angel” era pre-Joanne in 2015:

Hadrian

I feel like (speaking as an artist similar to Gar because she's 40% of my artistic DNA lmao) artists have throughlines in their work that present early on in their imagery, and some throughlines are just so viscerally THERE (idk how else to word that) that it's hard not to see something and go "oh! well, huh..."

and honestly? it's not just a slay—it's powerful.

It's about the dark place though, isn't it?

She mentioned one of the things that was different about her original setting for BR being that the setting was darker, but she goes onto say that there were visions she had for BR that stuck with her for 15 years she brought to life in the Abra vid, which leads me to believe it’s probably more than just the setting being darker

True, but for some reason I always associated that with the room + the chant after the bridge, they would've said “roma roma-ma” instead

I mean, ofc we have no idea what she’s referring to, but the fact that the color motif of the Gaga in white and the Gaga carries through from BR into Abra as the dueling twins, I think it’s definitely possible she had that concept as part of the BR vid

GAGA IS GROOVY

Gaga has been dancing with darkness since the start of her career, but I feel like Chromatica, despite all of its bright and colourful imagery, represented the darkest moment Gaga has ever reached. The raw lyrics expose the mental space she was in during the writing process, and even the album cover looks like Gaga has fallen to the bottom of a shadowy well, pinned down by the weight of her music and fame.

MAYHEM feels like Gaga finally reconciling with that darkness and fear, symbolising her fully embodying her true, multi-faceted persona.

I wouldn't be surprised if LG8 builds on MAYHEM and continues the narrative of Gaga reclaiming her chaos further, but in a more serene and reflective way.

Really wish she made a cameo in the DWAS video, even if it was a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment, it would have done wonders to tie the video with the rest of the era

Omg this is such a cool way to see the album cover, especially in hindsight with knowing how much pain was in that album
