Thats crazy. 

 

Thing is i was not directly suggested a JLO song, heard it on TIK TOK (i havent been on) or had any idea a resurgence was going on. But stuff like this seems to happen (A LOT). 

 

While I was joking about the telepathy thing, I do think algorithms have gotten insanely complex. They must move trends with related content in the same general group of stuff and you get pushed towards a trend without even realizing it

 

Maybe I did not get suggested a JLO song. But maybe i got suggested on autoplay songs of same genre that subconsciously made me wanna play JLO rn.

 

It happens way too often that something I felt I did completely randomly actually turned out to be related to a new trend and Im like shook everytime

Oh, I never looked at it like that but that does make sense actually. The fact that most of this is largely unregulated is insane. Not to sound too conspiratorial but it makes me feel like a puppet on a string

Im not saying all trends are intentional or that someone is controlling every movement with payola or whatever. Im sure many (if not most) happen naturally based on trendy behaviour

 

But i do think algorithms respond to trends in complex ways that they no longer just suggest you the trend directly, they also push trends indirectly with related content. 

 

For example in this case a possible scenario could have been: Algorithms must know i like 2010s dance music, JLO or other 2010s music is on the rise rn on spotify, and so other related dance music from 2010s gets suggested more to people it identifies like me that like this genre. A natural standout from that era (Like On The Floor) stands out in peoples minds and so now they play it even if they didnt directly get suggested this song

 

An example of what COULD have happened to me. And so I joined the trend without realizing. On Tbe Floor is probably the JLO song i played most 2 days ago, and i was never suggested the song

But to your point Youtube gave me suggested advertisements of a product I could use on my car to get rid of some scratch marks.  Which is ironic because not that long ago I had a fender bender on my side.

This song used to be a bop - but JLo has always got my nerves for just singing someone else's song and sometimes not even singing it and still taking credit for it lol 

The other day (and I know songs sample all the time including our great Gags) I heard the Spanish song this song is a remake of and i had to stop....this is On the Floor!? Has she ever just released a song she created?

Yeah, her acting in movies imo is not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. And she was great in Monster in Law and Back Up Plan

 

As for ur scratch, im not the single bit surprised... When I got hired in my current job and I started working in the Ridel Section which I had never heard of (its a fancy brand if Crystal Glasses). I instantly got so many ads for it.

 

Even worse I think when I got the most scared was whe my father (who I no longer lived with as I had already moved out) booked tickets to Portugal but he had not mentioned it to me yet. I started getting all kinds of ads by the same airline company (Air Transat) non stop (i think even on GGD lol) to go to Portugal then my dad told me like the next day he just booked them and I was like what the actual F*** google told me my dads plans before he did.

 

How did the internet know my dad bought tickets to see family and tried to sell me the same for me to go along? It must of known we were related to do that
