The song and the lyric are, imo, clearly about trend hopping and genre shopping, so I don’t think it’s a sincere declaration that “the dancefloor is dead” so much as it’s a commentary and parody of artists dropping their previous aesthetic and doing a full stylistic 180 from era to era.
