The US trying to insert their vapid customs and traditions (halftime shows) into competitions that were perfectly fine without them for decades. I'd think this is a symptom of US society as a whole: they can't focus on a single thing. They always have to have some kind of firework or light show or music, like a crib mobile. They have no sustance so they aim for the empty spectacle. Not art, just pure commercialism.

I would agree with you if this weren’t FIFA we’re talking about. They’ve got their fair share of **** to atone for and are not miles apart from the exact sort of thing you’re talking about. Let’s not forget they financed an entire propaganda film to try and clean up their unsightly legacy, one that is still guided by nakedly corrupt principals. The world cup is not being sullied by a halftime show. The world cup is already a deeply commercialized, capitalistic event run by an incredibly dark sided organization.

Soccer games are just shorter and have shorter half times than American football. This is mainly the only reason why they don’t have them but many soccer events have shows during their inaugurations.

I’m usually in to slander the Americans for their weird activities but them inserting arts in sports events is probably one of the best things they have done considering arts and sports are like polar opposites in many cultures and countries.
