Any other popstar would've just done one of those videos with live footage from the concert as 5th single video. This is the thing about Gaga, she plans music videos to what she wants to say and they respected her vision to make that mini film. This is a theory of mine BUT I think Gaga and team thought that MTN was going to be one of the the biggest hits of the álbum, after the lukewarm reception to “You And I”. They thought they had a “Thriller” on their hands, hence the MV and the HUGE promotion! “Thriller” was the 5th single of MJ álbum and did extremely well. MTN got that treatment but People were over BTW when she released “You And I”. I think MTN deserved Judas place in the single lineup. Imagine a MTN video with Judas budget?! Chromanne 2,552
I agree that Marry The Night could've been released as a follow up single after Born This Way, however it still wouldn't have been as successful as Judas in the long run. Judas is one of the most recognised signature hits of Gaga although it trailed during the era. Today Judas is the most streamed song from BTW and still gets way more streams than the lead single itself speaks it's longevity.
Lord Mayhem 3,355
The singles should've been... 1) Born This Way (Spring) 2) Scheisse (Summer) 3) Bloody Mary (Autumn) 4) Heavy Metal Lover (Winter) 5) Judas (last single so it closes out strong and any controversy is inconsequential) Marry the Night, Hair, and The Edge of Glory could remain promo singles

MTN would have done better as the 2nd single and even if it wouldnt be as popular as Judas, it still would have been one of her signature hits and more People would know about it. Judas is very Gaga and polished pop track so I do agree it shoulve been a single, but a later single after BTW-MTN- TEOG trío punch! Those 3 tracks shoulve represented BTW.

I think Judas that early ****ed up the era. also my little coconut brain always wished Judas and Bloody Marry would’ve had connected MVs, assuming Bloody Mary ended up a single in my fake timeline. It would’ve been so easy and cool to make them companion pieces. Wait, but a Judas/Bloody Mary (as singles 4/5) dual single/video release in October would’ve obliterated my little gay heart Edited May 14 by Vicixs Religion is a product to sell. LUST FOR GAGA 95
the born this way singles were so messy, if gaga wasn't so massively popular it wouldn't have worked. i dont think judas should have ever been a single, the songs not very commercial and too controversial. btw - mtn - edge of glory would have been a great single run.

So it's just ridiculous if they didn't release it as a single. Many people seems to worry about the short term decline in BTW era due to Judas controversy disregarding how Judas became one of the most memorable signature hits of Gaga. Even most of the straight people come to about her catalogue through Judas. 5 hours ago, LUST FOR GAGA said: the songs not very commercial and too controversial. Then she would not be a cultural impact as she is now. She was controversial then but her artistry paved way for many future artists. VOLANTIS 16,491
Im reading through everything and I just cannot see 2011 Gaga releasing Judas as a single if she wasn't able to during Easter, sorry. No matter how you all move the lineup, that was a strategic Gaga move and im glad she went for it. I'll lift you 3 inches off the ground and drag you to a meter and a half
