Stop pretending that you care about the effectiveness of my messaging - I don’t care that you have your defences up over being called out for engaging voluntarily in a system of exploitation and violence and you don’t actually care about my messaging being effective 🤣

I don’t know what you are upset about me commenting my thoughts on a thread! I enjoy discussing the topic, you are free to join or not! 🙂

Hey, I don't intend to argue like last time, but is it really necessary to be so defensive all the time? We all talk as if we know each other or in a friendly way, and you're the complete opposite. Maybe if you tried to make a difference in your defensive approach, we could have better arguments. That's all; I'm not interested in getting along with you because I see it as impossible. Obviously, I don't know many of the users here, but there's always a good vibe and lots of laughs, which is appreciated. 🌟

I think there is a space for laughs and jokes - I just think it's possible to be able to discuss serious issues as well. I'm not feeling very defensive at the moment Apollo but thanks for your concern <3

I don't think it's possible to have a discussion on veganism in the way that *some* non-vegans approve of. People naturally get defensive when confronted with the idea that their actions are causing harm and there simply isn't a way to bypass that.

Why don’t she address her stolen land while living on stolen land comment?

I think the core of the argument boils down to this.

In the choice between:

1. Supporting a system of industrialised cruelty where sentient animals are forcefully impregnated, separated from their babies, confined in cages and crates, mutilated without meaningful relief, psychologically wounded by fear and deprivation, bred into bodies that cause them pain, denied sunlight, family, freedom and comfort, then transported in terror and killed for profit.

2. Eating cheaper, healthier, protein alternatives that don't rely on suffering and harm, is more sustainable and is better for the environment.

#2 is the ethical choice.

If this offends your sensibilities and gets you all defensive then... Okay?  we can't discuss moral issues without discussing ethics and morality. I'd encourage everyone to move past their emotional response and defensive barriers and engage with the content.

If you choose to quote this I would ask that you do not try to argue about effective messaging, as if you are genuinely concerned that the opposing side to you just isn't being convincing enough, and confront the actual "meat and bones" of the issue to use a phrase non-vegans may appreciate.

i really want to let her finish but her entire career is awful for the planet, what with all the touring and vinyl variants. she can say she's doing her best to make it as green as possible, but it's still damaging the planet so...

very few things are worse than hypocrisy.

on the vegan discussion, she's entitled to her opinion and how she chooses to say it. i'm really more poking holes in her environmentalist gimmick.

Her delivery isn’t great, but idk, I’m able to separate the delivery and the content of her message. Like, I’m a fat f*ck who loves eating meat, so by all metrics, I should be just as offended by her statement, but I’m not. I recognize this is an area where I am hypocritical and her calling me, and others like me, out doesn’t particularly upset me. Even if the way she’s doing it can come across egotistical and arrogant.

She is absolutely right!!!!

i am a hypocrite for eating meat, supporting this industry. I’m not mad… i tried going vegeterian. Its hard. I cant fault her opinion - its the same with people who claim to love animals and then have birds in a cage. Its utterly hypocritical.

Although you are probably the target audience for vegan activism, over those that are not yet able to recognise animal suffering as worthy of significant moral consideration, I questioned whether I should quote you both because I think sometimes just repeated exposure to the conversation is eventually enough to spark enough self reflection for change.

I do not think everyone who eats meat or dairy lacks empathy. In fact, I think many people do care deeply and already understand, on some level, that there is a contradiction between their values and their choices. Both of your posts reflect this.

I think that there is a lot of people, myself included, that have had this moment of being stuck between knowing what the morally correct thing to do is, and actually doing it! It can feel really daunting and overwhelming when it comes to changing your diet.

I suppose my question would be, recognising that your current diet is at odds with your sense of morality and ethical code, are you interested in trying veganism? What are the barriers for you in regards to aligning yourself with your own beliefs?

Thank you to all my fans who continue to stalk this thread hours after the last post, excitedly waiting for the latest response so they can scour every comma, full stop, and exclamation mark, greedily gobbling up the endorphins secreted by their dopamine-fried brains whenever someone responds to me and tries to argue from a position they’re too cowardly to argue for themselves.

If it wasn’t for you posting drivel for pages while I was asleep in a different time zone, or posting gifs to bump the topic hours after anyone had said anything, this thread would have died within a few hours.

God bless your little socks x :diane:

I ignored, mostly, the little snipes throughout the thread. Happy to play the Diva too though!

It’s really simple, if you’re not interested in contributing to the conversation, then leave. Nobody is forcing you to stay.

If you want to stay, that’s fine too but don’t try to be condescending to those having a conversation here when it’s clear you’re still hanging around wanting to know how the conversation goes!

I also love “posting drivel for pages” when she’s still the most frequent poster *on this very page*, much less the whole thread :icant:
