I was thinking about this long and hard. I was thinking Madonna since she was rlly popular from the 1980s-2000s… and she still has a cult fanbase of younger millennials to this day.

i have a hard time finding an example of someone that was famous before but is still now popular w the Gen Alpha ppl… cuz ik for them the pop girls are Sabrina, Olivia, Tate etc. mb taylor swift? I’m not rlly sure tbh. I doubt they got a pop boy either so this new gen probably into kpop instead.

I'm 25, I have no idea what younger gen Z/gen alpha's interests are lmao, The only artist I could think of would be Taylor Swift on the largest scale, but idk how big she really is with alpha.

The Beatles are timeless, anyone who's just a bit into music loves them.

Legacy rock bands are the main ones atm who have picked up gen Z and the oldest of gen alpha who are hitting the right age for some angsty "no one understands me" rock.

Pop girls have struggled with it imo - Madonna/Cher/Kylie being the archetypes. Gaga, Swift & Beyonce to a more recent standard. Feel like these are more exceptions to the rule than the norm though.

Pop cycles itself way more than other genres due to the nature of the pop industry.

Gaga, Taylor, Rihanna, Beyonce are the musical legends to Gen Alpha, just the way Millennials sees Madonna, Janet, Whitney back then.

Madonna, Kylie, Celine and Mariah at Christmas for the older generation.

Beyonce, Taylor, Britney and Gaga for the slightly newer generation.

MJ and Ed for the men (though I don't like putting them in the same sentence).

The Beatles, Queen, Rolling Stones, ABBA and Coldplay for bands.

The only two artists who I can genuinely say have been popular for multiple generations is Cher & ABBA.

Cher was popular for 3 different generations in a row until Gen Z when she’s just never became popular again (except for that one ABBA cover album). And even now Gen Z still likes ABBAs hits.

Most people get 2 generations max to love them and then your single sales die, then your album sales and then you become a legacy touring act.
