TaylorSwift 161,410
In posters wheatpasted across New York City, activists are calling for a boycott of the 2026 event, whose lead sponsors, Amazon billionaire Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez, have also been appointed honorary co-chairs. The posters take aim at Amazon’s alleged exploitation of warehouse and delivery labor, as well as the company’s links to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) through its cloud computing platform, Amazon Web Services (AWS). Behind the poster designs is the British political activism campaign Everyone Hates Elon, which made them available as free downloadable files for people who want to continue sharing the message. A press release from the group notes that it was able to crowd-source over $10,000 in a week to finance its cross-city sweep to “expose and embarrass Jeff Bezos” ahead of the gala. x https://store.taylorswift.com
ellaesBella 44
Didn't Gaga debut her makeup line in Amazon? Like I hate billionaires, because that's just simply not right. But what in particular differentiates him from all the other ones? Like for real

Ultimecia 6,766
I'm seeing this right after I finished writing a poem about eating the rich. Couldn't be more à propos. Time. It will not wait, no matter how hard you hold on...
monstertoronto 11,584
Understand the effort. But It’s hard to effectively boycott an event that’s exclusively invite only. The event happens whether the plebes watch it online or not. It’s a fundraiser that sells out every year not an award show that needs ratings Edited April 28 by monstertoronto
Roughhouse Dandy 13,456
Okay, werk. On one hand this campaign is v c*nt. On the other, the met gala funds and brings attention to the museum that gets inadequate funding from the government. I think the whole attention goes to the rich and famous and their beautiful gowns, like most of the people don't even know what "MET" stands for and they don't care much to even google it. Also they get enough donations.. like their revenue (with donations and support) is around the $450m per year.. but they are still losing money, and when you check the salary of Max Hollein, the director of the museum.. he earns almost $2m/y.. so here's lies the problem of this institution. So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy 1

What better advertisement for a museum than hundreds of pictures of a bunch of celebrities competing for attention with interesting fashion antics (ideally) themed to their new exhibit being broadcast globally on celebrity blogs, fashion forums, online "influencers", social media fandoms, and The News™️ while causing an absolute commotion in the most populated city in the country? Its a world leader for museum tourism globally but more than half of their revenue relies on repeat visitors from the tri-state area who know what's going on and what it is for.
