I hate this so much. I can’t believe we’re literally witnessing all of this happening…  :( It just makes me feel so powerless

The IDF arrived while the settlers were shooting into the school and, not only did they not stop them, they *protected* them. Full story below.

For anyone interested in learning more about the settlement and occupation of the West Bank, here’s a great introductory doc:

There’s another excellent, post-10/7 documentary by Louis Theroux that is also absolutely worth watching about the escalation in violence since then with the encouragement of Netanyahu’s government. Here’s a clip of Daniella Weiss, the “Godmother” of the settler movement perfectly laying out the sociopathy, hypocrisy and propaganda at the heart of the settler mentality:

Part of the reason why the US can’t send a single cent to Israel. As if Gaza wasn’t bad enough, US tax dollars are being sent to the IDF to pay them to protect school shooters and terrorists.

I don’t even know what to say or react at this point. Ghoulish country, ghoulish fiends in the government, and my country is its biggest defender. I hate it here, I hate that my taxes go to support and defend this, and I hate that there seems to be no end to the atrocities or madness…

Love that you still can't be too critical of Israel when they've been doing things like this for decades. Even today on this website.

Israel really is just "mini America"

Both nations are a travesty in their current forms and a threat to world peace :smh:

Guaranteed if these settlers got return fire they'd cry "terrorists!"

For anyone that’s interested, here’s a draft of a script if you want to reach out to your Senator or Representative:

Hi, my name is [Your Name], and I’m a constituent from [City], [State].

I’m calling to express my outrage regarding the US’ continued support of war crimes committed or sanctioned by the state of Israel

This week, Israeli settlers, flanked by IDF forces funded in part by U.S. taxpayer dollars, defended settler terrorists who murdered a 14-year-old boy, killed a 32-year-old man, and opened fire on a school in the West Bank.

That is the reality my tax dollars are helping support.

This and the continued leveling of Gaza and attempted ethnic cleansing of the region is a moral red line for me.

I do not consent to a single cent of my money going toward this.

I am calling on [Senator/Representative] [their name] to support an immediate cutoff of U.S. military aid to Israel until:

Violence by settlers supported by or in collaboration with the IDF ends.

The occupation of the West Bank ends.

Innocent Palestinian civilians are protected, as prescribed by international law.

International accountability is enforced and meaningful structural reforms take place within Israel, to and including the end of apartheid in the region and justice for the victims of their war crimes.

And meaningful steps are taken toward Palestinian freedom, agency, and statehood.

I will be paying close attention to how the [Senator/Representative] votes and speaks on this issue moving forward.

Thank you.”

They do every time! I’ve seen countless Israelis in comments saying that this was retaliatory or self-defense against Palestinian children throwing rocks at settlers. I wish I was joking.

Republicans are either apathetic or actively supportive of the ethnic cleansing and genocide while Democrats are too scared to lose their AIPAC money or be called an antisemite for saying "yo, let's maybe not kill kids".

The "opposition party" (lmao) in the US government actively supports arming Israel regardless of what they do with the weapons we pay for. Even losing a presidential election to a felon, a clown really, won't change that.

The ONLY way out of this is gonna take several election cycles and a lot of luck. That's the saddest reality.

It starts in states like New York where young progressives can challenge the "old guard". Out of touch idiots like Schumer and Jefferies need to GO. AIPAC money needs to be considered poison to anyone running to the left of the GOP as well as anything other than a total empathetic stance for both Palestinians who have been killed, maimed, displaced, and hunted like animals and Jewish communities that have been attacked due to Israel's monstrous actions causing a spike in antisemitism worldwide.

Those candidates are needed to galvanize the left in less safe places. We won the mayorship in New York City and Mamdani became a national celebrity. That's how we do it.

Eventually, and maybe, then one of the two major parties in this country will finally make aid to Israel conditional and tell them "you get nothing if you continue to slaughter innocents and endanger our interest in maintaining stability and peace". And then actually follow through with it.

That also requires certain Dems who support stupid sh*t like Trump's Iran war (which Netanyahu convinced him to carry out) to be challenged and beaten too. Even if Dems take the senate this year, Fetterman will be a spoiler for their agenda. Whatever that is.

Israel's already torn internally between people who are racist nationalists and people who understand their government endangers them every day. Once American arms are no longer protecting them, the former group disappears and the latter takes over and makes a societal change. Either that, or they capitulate to the extremism and Israel falls due to their own bloodthirsty nature but that'll be their prerogative. A course they've charted for themselves, same as we Americans are struggling to eat and pay bills 'cause we keep electing goons like Trump.

Anyway, this is the only way I see of anything changing and it involves so many opportunities for derailment despite the fact that the majority of Americans are tired of their taxes supporting Israel. We are literally the ONLY country in the world that takes Israel's side. It's time for that to stop.

/Rant...idk, lots of ideas and emotions swirling around. It shouldn't be this way and it seems like it should be so easy for it to NOT be this way.

Do they put something in their water or something? I seriously cannot fathom how a group of people can be so thoroughly evil and devoid of all human emotions. How do people even go on about and live their daily lives? How can the citizens of a wealthy, well-educated country normalize this kind of medieval barbarism and see no issue with partaking in it? I'm genuinely shocked at the levels of brainwashing.

Is there some reason my LG7 isn't here? Has she died or something?

Gee, I wonder why the SETTLERS were being pelted with rocks :oprah:

Can't imagine why :oprah:

You mean the Palestinians didn't just invite them in and donate their homes and communities to them? :oprah:

Clearly those kids deserved to die then! :vegas:

I mean, the entire Dem caucus (save 7 of them, I believe) voted against a military sale to Israel this week, so I think this is a lot closer to being a reality than you’re suggesting. Israel is also sitting at a disapproval rate of 60% with the American population, with a majority of both parties disapproving of them in light of the war in Iran, so this will be very difficult (if not outright impossible) for most politicians to ignore.

IMO, the key question isn’t whether anti-Israeli populism prevails (because I think likely does), but rather: is it far right antisemitic populism or democratic progressive populism? The fork in the road is more Tucker Carlson/MTG vs. Mamdani/AOC than anything tbh.
