Mixed feelings about the rumored EP

I don't understand how so many people like the horrible original album version of DWYW, I'm sorry but his lines and vocals totally ruined the song  (justice for the solo version)

But overall I so enjoy most of her features, i do wish she chose more yassified people to collab with thou, I'd love Madonna, Kylie,  Caroline, FKA, Jade or Marina.. hell even something well produced with Florence.. maybe something with Aurora as well.  Even a Taylor remix of HBDUWM would be kinda cool. I'd also love her to do somethint with like Troye, Adam or something out there with Twentyonepilots or Tarja.

We shall see what she delivers! Looking forward to any kind of music from her that's not traditional Jazz.

Maaaan, what a variety! But a HUGE kudos for mentioning Tarja. What an idea, especially given the opera songs Gaga recorded for Mayhem Ball. Yet, I wouldn't like Gaga singing classically with Tarja, because T would eat her with experience. Gaga's belting and Tarja's classical singing would match so well. A Gaga solo opera song would be sooooo coool!

I’m not that enthusiastic about it either, it feels so artificial and like a cash grab. 

While I adored Mayhem, it’s odd because her artistry feels at a new peak while also feeling the most artificial. 

I feel like Stefani has been to get out of Gaga for a while with projects like Harlequin, and even Joanne and ARTPOP. The same with her acting career.

But most of that Stefani-focused work generally doesn’t meet the reception Gaga gets and she has to “go back to her roots”. Hence Chromatica and Mayhem. 

Even when she tried to create a grunge LG7 with Perfect Celebrity, Michael influenced her into making a pop-focused album. He knew the commercial gain and then influenced her to tour. 

And now she’s just probably been pushed to do this basic EP too. Same with the crappy dynamic pricing for the tour.

Not to be rude, but, don’t listen to it then? If she releases a song you don’t like, you’re free to ignore it and listen to something else. There isn’t even a confirmation that an EP exists, the only thing that’s guaranteed is a collab with Doechii - a young, queer female artist who has looked up to Gaga since her teenage years.

again, not the correct story

she wanted to scrap all of MAYHEM and start again with PC but he encouraged her to keep the album as is

he didn't influence her into making a pop-focused album, he encouraged to retain her original vision

Are you guys ok? you are trashing something that is not even confirmed to exist

lmao how about not listening to music that you dont like? literally no one is forcing you, we havent heard a single song what do you mean 

it gets exhausting, you guys are never happy. its obvious that you are not going to like every single song that she releases, just dont listen to them. she has been serving for a year, she plans on doing much more this year, and instead of being excited you feel the need to trash her unnanounced project.

It does but I know where this come from - too subjective expectations. No one has such wide range of genres amd styles in their career as Gaga, I belive. Everyone picks something for themselves and count on the next projects to convey similar vibes/emotions.

I would have been pissed too (as I was a bit with SL or PI when it came out) if Runway was a sort of a "comeback single", starting a new era after years of waiting. BUT it's not and as you said, she's been serving for a year and I am more than happy about what we've got. 

Do I like the song after listening 4 times? Nope. Is it within my personal taste? Absolutely NOT. Do I have any negative emotions about it not matching my expectations? NONE. This is the right time for her to experiment, release sth many may find mid, even flop. I don't care. I've experienced one of the best years with Gaga so I will not complain in this context at all.

Do you believe she has full control and autonomy over what she wants to do? 

The teaser and handful of leaks so far make it sound quite like easy fan service. 

Sure, I’d like Gaga to drop bops but she’s hinted for a while now that she’s been influenced to stop doing what she wants and go another angle.

If you listen to her interviews, the topic of Michael comes up, and she remarks how “well, I wanted to do X, but Michael was ‘supportive’ and instead suggested I do Y”. There’s a growing list of these influences.

And it’s for TDWP2, which itself is a cash grab on nostalgia. 

I’d rather she take a deserved break and not get overworked. She’ll burn out otherwise.

No, I think you’ve heard the wrong information. 

She wrote Perfect Celebrity early and wanted to go that grunge direction first. The working title was even Perfect Celebrity. She didn’t try scrap the album, it was still being made. See her Zane Lowe interview for that one.

Michael wanted her to go back to pop because she “didn’t have to try be something”.

She said she thought this view was “astute” and that she runs with a vision that really grabs her, like the grunge album, but may regret it. To me, that’s a bit disappointing she views her creative instinct that way. He was in the studio every day with her. 

Michael himself pushed for HBDYWM to stay when she didn’t want it, because “the fans will like it”. Cool but it also happens to be the most Taylor song, and her reputation (pun) is very commercial.
