zevthepaparazzo 1,862
They certainly all have their place and their time. It's honestly really hard to compare all these Fashion (2009) has that quintessential Fame era campiness: the combo of the diabolical "fabulous" / "nuts" rhyme and the sawtooth synth filled production by RedOne is just UIUHOAUHOR Chef's Kiss! It also screams white girl (that's a compliment to the song). Babylon is a perfect example of INFLUENCE in music, it's like Doja's Vie: it takes from its inspiration genre but doesn't try to be it exactly, and modernises it. And the lyrics are POETRY. It's definitely a Home Essential oriented track too. I take BJ+AF as being both about her life in New York, and also rejecting old bigots who pose as christian and embracing the underground pop civilisation. Honestly, I'm a little nervous putting this take out there. I think what she means by "I met a better man" was that she thought her community (was it the Rivington Rebels she was a part of?) better embodied the message of kindness and tolerance preached by Jesus than the actual Christian establishment. Moving on.... Fashion (2013) feels... almost universal? My mum actually loves the song. I'm sure majority of people can relate to feeling like they own the world when they dress up. And the sustained note on "ethereal" UGHHH!!!! The almost daft-punkesque disco feel for the track weirdly works on ARTPOP, I wouldn't expect it, but it does. Bad Romance is an undisputed anthem. Apparently it's supposed to be one of the catchiest songs EVER. Lyric wise, it really shows that less is more sometimes. As in, you don't need to write Dante's Inferno to make a good song, repetition (in this track it's "I want...") is KEY. Production wise... Donatella sounds like what I think adderall feels like for non adhders. Edited 1 hour ago by zevthepaparazzo RANT ALERT Anything goes!
