Hegseth has just sacked the highest ranked member of the US Army. 
CBS quote an unnamed source saying "Hegseth made the move because he wants someone in post who will implement his & President Trump's vision foe army". 
NYT claims the removal is because George & Hegseth had clashed over Hegseth blocking the promotion of four army officers - from a list of 29, the only 4 blocked were the only non-white men. 

Hegseth also fired General David M Hodne, head of the Army's Transformation & Training Command. And Major General William Green Jr, the Chief of Chaplains. 

There is some speculation among defence/war journalists that the sackings may be linked to opposition to ground intervention in Iran. But there have been repeated unexpected dismissals of high-ranking Army officers during the last 12 months under Hegseth.

Yeah they are just replacing all the "no" people... this is a big fat warning sign that a blood bath is coming. Everything is the US will be led by Trumpists in complete disregard of the law and morality, there goes your dictatorship americans (and soon the rest of the world honestly, probably)

Not really how the system works, fortunately. Many top level army and cabinet positions alike require Congressional confirmation, so he can’t really just replace them willy nilly. The move reads more desperate to me than anything else.

Didn't Trump attack Iran without Congress approval? And raise tariffs after the Supreme Court told him they're illegal? I don't think he cares in the slightest way tbh

The tariffs are not in effect because of SCOTUS and the law requires Congress to act to restrict war powers (not really the role of the courts in this instance). He’s backed down on any number of things that people swore up and down were going to be the end of democracy (returning Abrego Garcia from El Salvador, backing down from FCC censorship based on partisan politics after Charlie Kirk’s death, taking armed ICE agents out of LA, Minneapolis, Chicago, Portland, attempting to unilaterally freeze $3.5T in federal funding unilaterally) due to either a court ruling or significant public backlash. I’d even say more often than not when he does something flagrantly unconstitutional, he’s checked by the courts or the public and often backs down.

This move, and other recent moves, reads to me like he's ditching the organized fascism we were warned about before his second term and defaulting to the chaotic fascism of his first term.

Cons? Highly destructive and erratic. Very scary time.

Pros? Anyone who takes the place of a current staff member, cabinet member, or senior official will be so incomprehensibly stupid, even compared to their predecessor, that they'll have a hard time actually achieving anything meaningful.

In other words, he's basically surrendering his presidency right now. Especially after Dems take the house and potentially the senate in November.

A government purge from Pete AND Trump within the past month has been alarming...we are seeing a stricter and more intolerant dictatorship that doesnt put up with disloyalty, weakness, or failure to make Trump look great.

This is scary because it means there are gaps in our military leadership amidst the early stages of WW3...

Ngl the military purge is unsettling for strategic purposes, but the cabinet purge reeks of weakness and desperation
