ANVEEROY 63,812
Lady Gaga's seventh studio album, MAYHEM, was released TODAY! MAYHEM is a 14-track exploration of fame, identity, and "controlled chaos," characterized as a "maximalist pop" odyssey. The album features a genre-blurring mix of synth-pop, industrial dance, and electro-grunge, and it is executive-produced by Lady Gaga, Andrew Watt, and her fiancé, Michael Polansky. The record presents a dark, gothic-cyberpunk aesthetic. The tracklist includes the lead single "Disease," which is inspired by Nine Inch Nails, as well as the Siouxsie and the Banshees-sampling song "Abracadabra." Other standout tracks include the duet "Die with a Smile" featuring Bruno Mars, the industrial electro-funk piece "Killah" featuring Gesaffelstein, the glam-rock track "Vanish into You," and the minimalist ballad "Blade of Grass." MAYHEM debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and won a Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album. The success of this era is further solidified by The Mayhem Ball World Tour and much more! Let's celebrate! READ MY...BODY LANGUAGE! 2 15
AVeryGagaHolyDick 29,375
Strangely, Chomatica’s first year felt drastically shorter imo Maybe because there wasn’t too much going on with that era, so we were focused on other things? AVeryGagaHolyDick 29,375
Also, what a great album and era! Not THE best era of hers but for today’s standards? It was amazing. I don’t recall someone of her caliber doing so much. It feels so strange to think about late 2024 in retrospect. Disease was amazing but DAMN, the months between Disease and Abracadabra were something The era started so badly, I feared another Chromatica mess so much JFAD being a total failure, Disease underperforming, Gaga disappearing and then… the GRAMMYs Abracadabra really was the perfect choice to restart the era. And it actually makes me realize the era had three starts. Edited March 7 by AVeryGagaHolyDick
AVeryGagaHolyDick 29,375
I wonder why she didn’t always intend to put DWAS on MAYHEM. I know some fans don’t like it but damn, I think it’s an amazing song and without a doubt, it’s a very obvious #1 Grammy-winning smash. I remember saying it the minute it was released.
The Ew from Judas 1,481
I can’t believe it’s already been a year-and what a crazy, busy year it’s been! It’s been so cool to see everything that has come out of the Mayhem era, and as a newer fan (I came in a little after Chromatica lol) it’s been so amazing to see everything! I mean, probably because Bruno wrote the bulk of it and, while it works well enough on the record, I don’t think it really adds much to the album other than the streams and the attention of an uber popular song being attached to the project 🤷 Edited March 7 by Ladle Ghoulash We have forgotten our public MANNERS
nerdfacekillah 4,541
It has become probably my favorite album of hers (not really sure). When I first heard it, I thought I wouldn’t like it because I had created some expectations of how it would sound (I wanted her to be very experimental this album with sounds that I haven’t heard her in) but she delivered nonetheless. So proud to be a fan after all these years Edited March 7 by nerdfacekillah If you don’t have any shadows, you’re not standing in the light.
