Y'all it was just an opinion. I was coming at it more from impact on industry structure.

I personally think the way the world is right now, the audience has a lot of power. If Paramount makes more conservative content/supports MAGA and there's no audience for it, that will be a natural neutraliser. If you are unhappy with the new umbrella you can always opt not to consume Paramount/WBD content.  The firm will react/adjust.

But to have so much IP and influence under one vertically integrated monolith like Netflix would have far great consequences for the structure of the entertainment industry. So much influence over talent deals, production greenlighting, distribution etc. It would have a longer term harm IMO. And remember Netflix is already the largest entertainment platform in terms of pure user attention/subscriptions. This would just give it way more influence across the industry.

And you know sometimes people have different opinions... I am just coming at it from a business lens but you are quick to judge that I am "Paramount". Seems there is very little tolerance for any form of analytical thinking if it goes against your belief systems. Enjoy your echo chamber though.

REALITY

I didn't say that Paramount is better though, I know who they are, but my focus is on Netflix.

It's not about being progressive, it's about using progressive ideas for sales.

Netflix has been pink washing for many years, just to erase us later when it's not convenient to raise the flag anymore.

All the progressive series has been canceled in one way of another, every series with LGBTQ+ theme or feminist theme, was canceled, at their peak for example.

It's easy to point out all the faults of Paramount, but let's not pretend that Netflix is the less evil, they are as sh-t as Paramount.

I don't disagree that Netflix has been pink washing for a long time. It's been very problematic, and obviously I wish they wouldn't do that. I don't think Netflix is free from their sins, but I think in the grand scheme of things, Paramount is more evil.

The Ellisons have a direct connection to Trump and MAGA in a way that Netflix doesn't. Netflix's actions stay within the realm of the entertainment industry. Paramount's actions will influence everything if they have Trump with them. They both would cancel progressive content anyway, so at this point, it's about who's doing the most damage in the long run. Imo, that is Paramount.
