People were having meltdowns when Born This Way the single released and every single subsequent release. I think it's her harkening back to her The Fame days when the songs weren't as serious or "poetic" as BTW or TFM. They're mostly fun dance songs. Yea same. I noticed the shift with chromatica. I was okay with it for Joanne for stylistic purposes but I want poetic pop from Gaga.

Enigma, Replay, Alice, SFA, etc. all have very good lyrics. I think the closest thing MAYHEM has to some of her more poetic stuff is Perfect Celebrity 𝔗𝔥𝔢 𝔪𝔬𝔫𝔰𝔱𝔢𝔯 𝔱𝔬𝔯𝔢 𝔞𝔴𝔞𝔶 𝔦𝔱𝔰 𝔪𝔞𝔰𝔨 𝔞𝔫𝔡...𝔦𝔱𝔰 𝔣𝔞𝔠𝔢 𝔴𝔞𝔰 𝔪𝔦𝔫𝔢.
