Apparently she sold it for only 12 million dollars? That's wild if true

9 figures is minimum $100,000,000 or one hundred million dollars so low nine figures probably puts it similar to Bieber's 200-300 range which makes sense since she doesn't have credits on her biggest hits

Hopefully since she’s out of her conservatorship she gets to keep all that money minus her hopefully normal lawyer / manager fees and not all going to her evil dad

If all she wants to do is perform and not release new music...might as well. She's got the hits...is a legend...and could put out a great show and peace out lol

I wouldn't be worried about her dad right now as much as I would about her ex and -sorry to say this- their kids.

That’s true ugh. Didn’t k fed have his payments expire by now and the kids have aged out of support?

The only problem this presents is; not only does this mean her music can be licensed for things without ANY of her consent (they could give it to a KKK ad if they wanted to) but now if she decides one day to have a comeback she needs express permission to even sing her own songs. She’d essentially have to pay them to use her own music on tour and so on.

But didn’t Katy Perry do this too and she tours? And had “credit” on a lot more.

Yes but Katy also has other ventures and tours to fund it, plus any music she made after the fact she owns like before that means she has the money to pay the percentage she owes them to use it. Britney doesn’t have any interest in touring or anything it seems so that 200M will only last her so long before she’ll have to make new music to even fund having her old music. She’s gonna miss out on a LOT of long term royalties too.

Basically take Katy for example to show how it works;

Say Katy owned 30% of the rights to her catalogue and sold it, she would get a lump sum of money like Britney is (typically used to pay off debts is why people do this), when she tours she would have to pay whatever the 30% comes to (for example say her catalogue is worth 40m of her total net worth- but she only owes for the 30% she sold so 30% of that 40m) to use it on tour. So she’d pay so much in advance and then pay them back the rest out of the final outcome of the tours box office. So say she paid 2m upfront, the other whatever few millions she owes would come at the end of the tour box office after the fact.

This is why a lot of celebrities nowadays have endorsements and other business ventures out the ass because this stuff costs money. You have to spend money to make money. Plus we live in the age where artists write a lot of their stuff and CLING to that small little writing credit because it sustains them.

For example if there’s 6 writers on a song, all 6 of those own a percentage of the money that song makes EVERYWHERE from tours, commercials etc it’s a percent of a percent. So those 6 writers might only make max 2% each but if a song is a single that’s still thousands of dollars from one of many songs they’re on.

An example for Gaga is (I’d presume since she’s so involved) she’s own maybe 35-40% of her own music, which is HIGH for someone on a commercial record label, because it’s shared with other producers, writers, sound engineers etc and the label. It’s all maths.

she’s credit as 50% songwriter, 50% producer and I think 10% keyboardist/musician on Bad Romance so she has an average of 25.5% of the total credits for the song BUT because of the way money works and her masters work she actually only owns about say 6% of the song (which is quite high) so she makes $6 for every $100 the song makes. It then gets tricky obviously between streaming and then when your music is also on iTunes Apple will take a cut so she could end up technically making $3 for every $100 it makes. But the. She also will have to pay tax on that once it makes her so much money and the taxes in America are pretty high so on average she probably makes more like $1.70 per $100.

I just a did a tiny little bit of reading on Primary Wave, and it seems as though they hold the rights to the catolgues of many dead (and essentially dead) musicians. I guess it's true; Britney is officially done as a recording artist

we've all known this deep down but omg does it hurt to see her leave

and now we're gonna be tortured with chopped AI slop versions of her songs playing at whole foods
