How is this thread still going

Get a job.

People really enjoy talking **** about TS, at least that is the only reason I click on/pay attention to a thread with her name. I wanna see our peers drag that bitch through the mud for being a sellout

As much as I like Taylor's music (and yes, I own her albums on CD and vinyl and some of them also in different variants), but I never understood the appeal of single CDs or vinyls. I know that in the 80s or 90s there were single vinyls that had extended 7" or 10" mixes of the songs as B-Sides or even new songs that weren't on an album.

But for the Showgirl Era we got 2 Ophelia single CD and now they just released 4 more Opalite CDs, totaling 6 CDs with just Opalite and an alternate version (no extended!) of it... in addition to the 7" vinyls for both songs. That just feels... unnecessary?

It is all for collector's items and unfortunately TS thinks she could record herself squirting and put it on a vinyl and it would be collector worthy. She releases things ASSUMING that is years to come she is gonna be some legend and everyone values her **** more than their mortgage.

She is prob gonna sustain value- but its not like older artists where that stuff was released out of what was normal at the time, and now suddenly its tricky to find something like it (i.e. something by Aerosmith, Joan Jett, etc.). It is just greedy and a way to make money... but at this point in the world I don't even give a **** if someone wants to oogle over that ****. Go for it, but don't treat it like she is this renowned musician because she isn't. She hasn't capitalized on anything that shows her talent in years

Some of y'all talking like you're new with the concept of singles :ororomunroe:

Or maybe it IS new for y'all cos you are too young back then or don't even exist yet to know how music was sold back then? :ororomunroe:

It's been done forever. One song single with many versions of CDs. Even artists who are hailed as the standard of modern music like Queen,  The Beatles, and more  had more than 2 versions for their singles :ororomunroe:

Y'all lucky to never experience album version & Single mix version of a song before streaming era, with single version usually better sounding, cos one will have to either buy the CD or hoping that single version will be released on their Best Album to listen to it again. And sometimes that didn't even happen, just like Michael Jackson's Blood On The Dance Floor for example :bradley:

there's no point comparing music consumption back then to now, those are 2 very different worlds

they pumped out multiple copies of CDs and vinyls back then because it was the ONLY way to purchase and listen to music, there's absolutely no reason for taylor to be doing the same in the age of digital distribution other than just pure greed and exploiting her fans

and another major different is CD singles back then were NOT on a 48 hour timer :rip:
