Cpeer 4,883
Was it my cup of tea? Not really. But you have to give it up to her work ethics and artistic vision. Many of us and myself thought she would do “just” a piano version of Vanish Into You and get over it. And yet she managed to reinvent her song, do another genre version of it. Performances like these show why Gaga has a great career over 2 decades and will have until she decides to retire. 2

Rock and Metal bands are first and foremost exactly that - bands. Of course with a strong and present lead vocalist, but drums, guitar and bass have a much higher visibility and standing in this genre of music. Not to say she doesn't share the spotlight, she's always been vocal about her team etc, but I'm curious to see how it actually would play out. Honestly, I think she'll be able to do it without the band connection. Although this performance plus what we've been told about Requiem have given the musicians a bit more of a stage role usually taken up by her dancers. But in the current era, thinking about some of the most commercially successful rock acts like Sleep Token & Ghost. I think their style of having the clear front man essentially lead and dictate the show suits Gaga fine. Even Ghost say what they do is far more Gaga-esque than a classic rock show. So she definitely has room. I can see it being a super divisive era though. The gays know how to party

I think she'd do well with a Pretty Reckless sound or even Poppy, tho they're both more metal (sorry, I'll keep on pushing towards that in my fantasy), but I feel like she's more comfortable in the Metallica sound, which also works lovely for her voice. regarding reception I think we should get ready for a Joanne 2.0. 1
Notorious Bean 8,472
Love the performance and outfit but just not a fan of this version of Abra The different camera angles were so fun https://open.spotify.com/track/7q1GGm2mBlC9hPWige0C6e?si=6b5319d0e3b44fa6
GagaSuperfan1 382
Is this the rendition we will get on Mayhem Requiem? What do we think, will we get on streaming or rock versions of the other tracks?

I pushed it towards Ghost (because I'm a fanboi) primarily because if she does go rock/alt/metal esque. I think the era as a whole will be wrapped up in that almost campy glam rock deliberately on the nose vibe. I definitely think she'd experiment across multiple rock genres, but to tie the era together I fully expect her to go full campy glam goth vibes. Spiritbox's performance was actually really cvnt. Standing before this audience, going full force, performing a song called "soft spine" with the opening line "you all deserve each other"...
OMonster 14,948
This was utterly incredible. One of her best televised performances ever. Genuinely mesmerising. subtext / fantasy 1

hELXIG 44,263
OH THAT WAS EVERYTHING I was glued to the screen with stars in my eyes OMG AGSDHFGHMJKL The outfit, the camera work, this arrangement. It felt like a live music video I love that the basket looks like someone has tried to place something on her head to keep her quiet, but she has screamed so loud it's exploded open and is still searing hot She was really showing all the other artists how it's DONE and why she has had such longevity int he industry I feel like the energy in this performance was a retaliation at everything going on in the world at the moment (but that could just be me projecting) I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin. 2 1
GoldenNovember 700
This is Gaga at her best! Surprising, fresh and different. You don't have to like it, but don't you dare accuse those who do like the performance of being "stans who love everything she does". You may not have heard of it, huns, but this is what we call having different opinions. Is this your first time being confronted with people not agreeing with you? It's ok, you'll live, I promise It's hard to light a candle, easy to curse the dark instead.
hELXIG 44,263
Wait people are COMPLAINING? UNDERWHELMED? Oh I'm in enemy territory tonight to me this feels like a return to the old Gaga. She's channelling her rebellious fury and the passion of Gagas past. This was like something I could see her doing during BTW or ARTPOP. I was alive for 4 minutes and 3 seconds I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin. 2 1
