They seem to try to change the format all the time to make it shorter and to attract younger viewers since the ratings keep plummeting. Reading the article it sounds like they would made room to include any Wicked songs if they were nominated. They’re just looking for famous people on stage.

For the Oscars to do this again is a really poor show. By doing so, they make it abundantly clear who the frontrunners are and who doesn't stand a chance, making less people want to tune in, so they're shooting themselves in the foot. I love how Gaga stood up for the other nominees back then, even though she knew that award was in the bag. She's always been a class act.

And somehow this announcement of only including two songs in the show came before voting was finished? I mean that seems like it would cast an unfair bias for sure.

Good for Gaga. And she have more at that point in her career too. 
I am not sure Huntrix have that same power to protest. So having Diane starting this is good catalyst imho

Are Huntrix even a real band? I thought they were just a creation for the movie.

Yes and no imho. The singers are mostly solo acts put together. So maybe some-kind of a musical project called Huntrix for them than actual group, esp since the sequel movie is confirmed now?

This is why ppl need to stop criticizing if they dont hear about as mamy acts of philantropy or deeds as theyd like. Not every celebrity has to be like Taylor Swift announcing every good deed they do for clout (ex: I just donated $1M to this, i just gave my tour staff a $55M bonus) So u dont actually know how much they do or dont do behind the scenes.

That makes sense. I think they might have very little protest power then as the singers are prob happy for the gig and the network or label who makes the decisions for huntrux will def not want to turn down the exposure.

Didn't know that. I know all this stuff is planned far in advance but enough places for 5 nominees to perform should always be left open, it's not rocket science. If they've done it before, why can't they do it again? I'm still stunned by what major voting academies see in Golden, it's just a generic kids pop song, not of academy quality. Makes me wonder if they're being paid big bucks from Netflix as I've never seen such a basic kids song be on the radar of so many and taken so seriously. We Don't Talk About Bruno may have been for kids but its lyrics were actually interesting and could appeal to adults as well. But Golden just screams "focus group" and "gen z/alpha targets."
