Agreed about the cool down. Especially with the extended tracklist, I think the cooldown of LD -> DCT feels much more appropriate and is much more enjoyable

I'm not a big fan of this song either, maybe I'd appreciate it more on another album, but it doesn't fit on Mayhem (as well as DCT and HBDYM). There is a huge gap of quality/creativity between the first 7 tracks and these 3 tracks.

On first listen it was one of my favorite songs and to this day it stills.

She was on fire with these lyrics and the melody.

I agree the lyrics are generic. But that is why it works! It's a great night drive music, music you scream sing for fun or when you're having a good time with friends, music to feel good to. It's not Perfect Celebrity. It's not Replay. But it's a great pop track like most of the songs MPGs put out usually. IMO, HBDYWM is whatever you think LoveDrug is.

People who hate it have a tendency to perceive that it’s overrated. 
 

Objectively, it’s not overhyped. It’s nowhere near the most streamed song on the album and it did not get rated as a standout track upon the release. People just generally do not hate the song and you’re likely to find people online who are into the deep cuts, but I get that it’s too much for someone to handle when they are personally biased against it.

I really love the song, it's one of my favourites!

But I also recognise that it's musically kind of ordinary, as in it doesn't bring anything new and is very 'expected', like I heard it before. A typical pop song. So for that reason I understand if someone doesn't find it interesting, but it doesn't apply to me. I'm basic. 

But it's not a bad thing, not every song needs to be groundbreaking. Born This Way did that with more or less the whole album, I don't necessarily need it again.
