Canada & China work out a deal to reduce tarrifs. Canada which raised EV tarrifs from China to 100% due to pressure from USA will allow a small amount of Chineese EVs for 6.1% tarrif in exchange for some Canola tarrifs especially on seed products being reduced by China

Chineese EVs mean Canadians will ultimately buy less American cars but due to Trumps tarrifs targeting auto sector, Canada is looking to diversify trade and re-evaluating if taking side with the US against China with Barriers is worth it

More China deals may open up oppurtunities for Canada to export more energy, critical minerals and agricultural products which Canada has expressed interest in. In return it may mean cheaper cars than American ones since Trumps policies mean Canadian Auto will largely get hit anyway and may be worth the trade off... hurting both Canadian and US auto industry

hell yeah! not only are Chinese EVs better than US ones (looking at you T*sla....), they are also cheaper.

It's smart to move away from being completely dependent on trade with the US given the instability, and increasing trade with China as the next superpower is a good strategy

I find it funny the West complains China isnt fair with trade practices and then we literally tarrif the sh*t out of their cars so our own car industry can compete :rip:

Were literally not doing the green transition on EVs in part cuz of cost. If the Chineese can help why not?

This is what trade is supposed to be all about. You export what your competitive in and have a surplus of and you import what your not competitive in and can outsource cheaper

And I hate hearing that trade ruined the middle class. The US for example despite loosing manufacturing did gain a lot of jobs and export revenue in tech, telecom, financial services, digital entertainment etc. These exports often get cherry pick excluded from overall trade data by  saying it doesnt count because its not merchandise which is absurb. The reality is US total trade balance is not as bad as some make it out to be if you actually include everything but Trump and Republicans are conviniently excluding these sectors the US excells in from the figures because it helps their narrative that everyone is ripping off the United States :rip:

The real reason the US (and other Nations) middle class are failing is inequality, regressive tax structure that only rewards capital not labor/income and failure to redistribute income created by these new high value added 21st century industries.

If the issues above continue trade policy tweeks wont do much as adding a few factories back to make shoes, clothings, home depot supplies etc that are cheaper to outsource is not whats suddenly gonna bring us back prosperity

I wanted to get a new Hyundai Sonata after researching all the cars on the market. Super economical, great mileage, and amazing premium features 👌🏻

Then Trump jumped the prices of cars here with all his dumb tarrifs :saladga:

Well I was considering an EV and we put 100% tarrifs on Chinas cheaper EVs thanks to US pressure :sis:

Combined with our failure to build adequate infrastructure to support it, I looked at the prices and inconvinience and I was like nah... im good. Ill stick with my Kia Forte for now :enigma:
