I agree with all the people that say there just simply won't be another world war. Just overinflated super powers like the US that try to exert dominance and overstretch themselves to the point of collapse.

Yeah there’s basically no appetite for war anywhere in the world except for in Trump’s mind. Even Putin doesn’t want one he just wants to get richer.

There is another weapon other Countries can use thats often ignored. Treasuries. If cordinated to be dumped in sequence one after another it could trigger a serious US financial crisis, and if im not mistaken Northern Europe especially Norway is a significant holder

The European states including the UK own over 25% of all US government bonds owned by foreign states (7% of the total bonds).

The UK holds close to a billion dollars alone.

A coordinated sell off/dump would be catastrophic.

If Europe holds 25% im surprised the UK holds only $1B. Thats actually kinda peanuts for the treasury market, its equivalent to only a few hours worth of borrowing for the USA as each day they borrow more like $4B to $5B

It's 25% of US bonds owned by foreign powers, but 7% of the total US bonds. Including private investors, the UK holds around $780bn.
But it's impossible to coordinate the private holders on the same level that states can coordinate.

That being said - a 7% drop would trigger a major market reaction which would likely push a lot of private investors to drop theres to avoid making loses as the return yield/security of the yield would drop.

7% would, but as u pointed out its hard to control whats owned privately

If the Government itself only owns $1B. Thats too small to do anything

Id be curious to know how much Norways $1.5T Sovereign fund holds in US Treasuries lol

I think you missunderstood what the 7% is. That 7% is entirely owned by European state treasuries. So their nuclear option plan they've all leaked to the FT in recent months is an immediate sell off of that 7%

Oh thats different. I thought 7% of total treasuries was including private holders. Yeah 7% is a lot

But then that surprises me even more than UK has only $1B as its the 2nd or 3rd largest economy in Europe

It's false, he wants to restore the borders of his country like they were before the fall of the USSR

Also if he didn't want war then he wouldn't have done all his war crimes

Only Japan has more than the UK as a single state. I don't have the state owned number, but including private holdings Japan has $1131 billion to the UK's $779 billion (again including privates). China has $765 billion (and they'd have a very easy time getting private holders to do what the government wanted...)

The US debt is primarily held by domestic creditors (over 2/3rds is domestically held). And around 20% of that is owned by the Federal Reserve because it bought a **** tonne of US Treasury securities during COVID.

Yeah im familiar with Japan and domestic holdings via QE

Im more surprised EU holds 7% at the sovereign level. I didnt think it was that high.

Its not EU, its Europe. So like the UK's holdings count as part of that 7%. The majority of of it is EU, but not all european Nato nations are EU.

Sorry i say EU for short like sometimes I say NA for North America

I wasnt refering to Union members specifically i meant all of Europe

Either way $1B is a rounding error on that total

Well my point is he just wants them. He's not itching for war but is willing to let it happen for his goal of said borders. That’s different than Trump who genuinely is itching for the glory of war

Willing to let war happen would be doing nothing to stop one that started

Putin literally innitiated it. He went out of his way to invade Ukraine. Thats not letting it happen, thats literally starting it

Regardless what the motive is (it can be to get richer like u said), u cant say he isnt itching for war. War always has a motive. If ur willing to start one to achieve ur goals, ur for all intents and purposes itching for war

President Donald Trump said Wednesday that “anything less” than US control of Greenland is “unacceptable,” arguing the United States needs the territory for national security purposes, which could in turn strengthen NATO.

“NATO becomes far more formidable and effective with Greenland in the hands of the UNITED STATES,” Trump wrote in an early morning Truth Social post. “Anything less than that is unacceptable.”

The president’s latest comments come as Vice President JD Vance is set to host a meeting Wednesday morning at the White House with the Danish foreign minister and his Greenlandic counterpart alongside Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

In the social media post, Trump reiterated his assertion that acquiring Greenland, which is a self-governing territory of Denmark, is essential for US national security. He added that it is “vital for the Golden Dome that we are building,” in reference to the missile defense systemthe Pentagon is developing. He also argued that NATO leaders should be pushing for the United States to have Greenland.

“NATO should be leading the way for us to get it. IF WE DON’T, RUSSIA OR CHINA WILL, AND THAT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN! Militarily, without the vast power of the United States, much of which I built during my first term, and am now bringing to a new and even higher level, NATO would not be an effective force or deterrent - Not even close! They know that, and so do I,” Trump wrote in the post.

Trump still being president is unacceptable. I literally can't write the words I want to call him because too many people would be triggered by just seeing them
