Morphine Prince 109,709
President Donald Trump said Wednesday that “anything less” than US control of Greenland is “unacceptable,” arguing the United States needs the territory for national security purposes, which could in turn strengthen NATO. “NATO becomes far more formidable and effective with Greenland in the hands of the UNITED STATES,” Trump wrote in an early morning Truth Social post. “Anything less than that is unacceptable.” The president’s latest comments come as Vice President JD Vance is set to host a meeting Wednesday morning at the White House with the Danish foreign minister and his Greenlandic counterpart alongside Secretary of State Marco Rubio. In the social media post, Trump reiterated his assertion that acquiring Greenland, which is a self-governing territory of Denmark, is essential for US national security. He added that it is “vital for the Golden Dome that we are building,” in reference to the missile defense systemthe Pentagon is developing. He also argued that NATO leaders should be pushing for the United States to have Greenland. “NATO should be leading the way for us to get it. IF WE DON’T, RUSSIA OR CHINA WILL, AND THAT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN! Militarily, without the vast power of the United States, much of which I built during my first term, and am now bringing to a new and even higher level, NATO would not be an effective force or deterrent - Not even close! They know that, and so do I,” Trump wrote in the post. Source: https://www.cnn.com/2026/01/14/politics/greenland-trump-nato-denmark 1

Yeah I'm like we already have a military presence in Greenland, in fact our arctic defense relies heavily on it, so this is super dumb But we all know it isn't logic that's driving him to be this stupid or even the resources. It's ego. He wants another Louisiana Purchase sized conquest for his legacy. Thankfully our military leaders are still straight up refusing to entertain this idiocy. Lord Mayhem 3,448
He believes NATO doesn't have the authority to tell him what to do and they don't have the gull to attack the US. However, they've been very clear they will defend Greenland if it comes to that. US is becoming Russia 2.0... He really is rushing to make the Monroe Doctrine a reality...

Trying to take over countries he has no business being in isn’t gonna start a civil war lmao that would imply only within the US would a war start, especially if the rest of NATO pop off when he inevitably invades Greenland. He’s literally attempting to take over a country that’s owned by another European country. And Europe already thinks he’s dumb as a rock already. I mean the US hasn’t won a war since the independence war solo so are we surprised

Europe would cut all economic and diplomatic ties which would handicap us greatly but I seriously doubt they'd actively fight 'cause they would see the internal conflict ignited by such a dumb move. We aren't capable of capturing and occupying Greenland, local resistance alone would be enough to drive us out within a few months to a few years. But back here, the military would fracture as Trump sends illegal orders and leadership refuses and/or resigns, civil unrest would heighten even more than it already has, Trump would be trying to federalize states' nation guards, governors would be resisting that, the actual military would be sent in to deal with dissonants, likely having clashes with the nation guards under governors' leadership, ICE and local police would clash, it would be a total dissolution of order in the US likely leading to fragmentation and potentially the end of the union as it is. Invading Greenland would weaken NATO but it'd destroy the US and Europe wouldn't have to fire a single shot tbh. I agree with all the people that say there just simply won't be another world war. Just overinflated super powers like the US that try to exert dominance and overstretch themselves to the point of collapse. Treasuries. If cordinated to be dumped in sequence one after another it could trigger a serious US financial crisis, and if im not mistaken Northern Europe especially Norway is a significant holder

Oh yeah, Dumping US Treasuries + hard sanctions is the non nuclear "nuclear" option The US would in fact be crippled, but then so would everyone else immediately after... No one ever wins in wars, but the obvious is not understood by some pea brains out there so Edited January 14 by Economy
