Is Hardstyle The Next Trend In (Dance) Music?

Hardstyle is electronic dance music tracks that take an existing song and transform it into the hardstyle genre, known for its fast BPM (around 150), hard-hitting, distorted kick drums, reversed basslines, and melodic synths, adding an aggressive, energetic, and club-focused twist to the original, often creating huge drops and euphoric breakdowns.

Hardstyle is experiencing a resurgence and growing trend, especially with its evolution, increased mainstream festival presence, and merging with other genres like techno, though its US growth is still catching up to Europe's long-standing popularity, with new artists and events signaling a positive upward trajectory. It's seen as a versatile genre, blending with pop and house, and attracting major EDM artists, indicating it's moving beyond its core niche.

I hope not, atleast not from the examples given:huntyga:

Although Izzy Camina does it justice with a touch of phonk & witchcore

She might be the next icon, we’ll see:ororomunroe:

But I rather have dubstep or 10s edm resurgence :queenga:

I think the mainstreaming of hyperpop and industrial pop gives credence to a potential hardstyle resurgence.

People are enjoying the heavier beats.

Ahh I remember my hard style/hardcore days.. I still do love some of the tracks, used to love Angerfist this video was on replay.

Can't see Americans taking on this kind of dance music it's very European but who knows!

I don’t think so, but if it does let’s make Mary Jane Holland the next “old” hit after Bloody Mary. Since that is heavily influenced by Hardstyle.

I think late 2000s electropop and synth pop will make a comeback eventually because we’ve been going through fashion and music phases in culture, in culture early 2010s fashion and makeup trends are starting to sneak up I think so it’s possible. and I get a sneaking feeling (with little to no evidence ofc) Gaga is gonna drop a synth pop/electropop album next and I really dunno why.

Music trends definitely have cycles. I can see hardstyle making a comeback. The lines among subgenres of EDM are fun to blur and play with! :vegas:

Lots of folks say trance is coming back too! :legend:

I think the popularity of hard techno is definitely tuning people's ears to fast hard hitting beats and even up tempo styles too.

Although hard techno this slaps:

Sometimes that fast and heavy kick drum is the only thing that feels real. :music:

I hope synthpop comes back but not like that sort of 80s styled stuff that has no gated reverb on the drums like chappell roan does

tf/m + blackout pop needs to be resurrected, it’s nearly been 20 years since the release and it takes about 20 years for a trend to come back right?

I'm not surprised, all data points to psychedelics being the most popular substances with young people.

Drug popularity always dictates dance music popularity lol
