gypsygay 81 Posted yesterday at 03:11 AM Share Posted yesterday at 03:11 AM I’ve watched them all multiple times (we don’t talk about the hobbit at all lol). Last year I went to see the extended editions in theatres and it was such a fun experience seeing them all in one week. Fellowship has that nostalgia and I love seeing the world and meeting the characters for the first time but Return of the King is such an epic its hard not to say this is the best film. 1 1

AddMeOnMYSPACE 2,065 Posted yesterday at 03:38 AM Share Posted yesterday at 03:38 AM I always watched lotr every new years. But the fandom is in the pits. They were dragging me because I preferred the extended versions over theatrical. Also because I never read the books

Pablo 8,092 Posted yesterday at 03:45 AM Share Posted yesterday at 03:45 AM I love LOTR, just finished The Two Towers extended edition and need to make time for the almost 4 hour The Return of the King. I grew up on them, my first experience was my dad reading The Hobbit to me and my siblings. Don't visit my profile
LibraOctober98 3,505 Posted yesterday at 03:46 AM Share Posted yesterday at 03:46 AM Never read the books and probably won’t, but watched the movies for the first time ever a few years ago. And I can’t believe I had ever put them off. They’re fantastic. As a kid my brother watched them, and I kind of detested everything he liked, so maybe that’s why. I also always felt while watching it that they don’t explain enough of anything to make sense, but once I accepted things as they were (“oh, Gandalf is… White now? And that means better? Oh okay sick hell yeah!”), I enjoyed them much more. Favorite allover parts were: Battle of Helms Deep, anytime Gandalf is on screen, the entire battle with the Balrog, anytime Galadriel is on screen, and everything after the ring is destroyed.
Batwings 12,907 Posted yesterday at 03:51 AM Share Posted yesterday at 03:51 AM (edited) It's pretty much impossible for me to choose whether The Fellowship of the Ring or The Return of the King as my favorite. TFotR was just so magical and wondrous when I first saw it, and I was amazed by Peter Jackson's filmmaking. On the other hand, TRotK was so grand and epic and ended on a perfect note. I love them both equally. Edited yesterday at 03:52 AM by Batwings

BrandyFinest 177 Posted yesterday at 07:05 AM Share Posted yesterday at 07:05 AM (edited) Call me basic but, ROTK extended version is the best but I do love all three films nearly equally . Besides a few creatives, Hollywood simply doesn't even have the drive or energy to make these grand sprawling epics. Sure, there are many movies that have come out that had a higher budget than films in the LOTR trilogy, but they certainly don't feel more expensive. In fact, they look worse, which is embarrassing considering how much visual effects has evolved over the years since the trilogy. I mean, just look at the Hobbit films, newer movies yes, but LOTR trilogy still knocks them out of the park visually(must we forget the random GoPro footage). Maybe its because big budget filmmaking has become so bland over the years, but even if it didn't, the LOTR trilogy would still hold up extremely well. Its such an inspiring testament to what great filmmaking is capable of. Edited yesterday at 07:06 AM by BrandyFinest
