Ray of Light 8,134
ARTPOP's success will definitely determine wether she tours stadiums or arenas next time.
giskardsb 12,565
Arenas are better for the viewer and the sound is usually better too.
Runway 27,876
Stadiums would be healthier for her but if she likes Arenas more then thats probably it
Sara 1,128
I've seen BTWB in stadiums and arenas, and the arenas were better. Everyone is closer to the stage and it's just a much more personal feel to it. It's not as much of a mess crowd-wise, and you don't have to deal with the weather. If she played stadiums in January, I bet a lot of fans would not have dressed the way they did! The sound quality in an arena is a little echoey, and the stadium sound quality was maybe a little more even because sound isn't bouncing off the walls. But that's a minor difference. Overall arena shows are better (and Theater shows are even better still!) Also, stage fog doesn't work when it's windy. :flop:
What 4
I remember she had to cut one show short in the UK cause the stadium was next to houses :noparty:
Sara 1,128
I remember she had to cut one show short in the UK cause the stadium was next to houses Twickenham!! I guess that's another advantage for the neighborhood is that the arena traps sound a little better. :)
hell0samuel 59
I remember she had to cut one show short in the UK cause the stadium was next to houses this was my show :( if I was an artist I would prefer arenas tbh. Such a better experience as a whole. And they're designed for music so the sound is usually better.
somechick 1
This. Stadiums are awesome but you probably can't experience it the way you should if you were way in the back. Yeah this is the problem. She could do all stadiums, but I think a lot of people will miss out on the real experience because they are too far away. I mean even at the show I went, we were quite far back and couldn;t really see everything, so I imagine how much worse it would be in a stadium. That said, obviously stadiums would be better because she would do less shows, but can get more people to each show = better for her health. I just hope she spaces things out a bit more in the next tour. In the sense that she needs more time between each show - especially in different cities. You can't be doing a show in Nashville one day, then Atlanta the next, then 2 days later in Tampa. I think it's too much strain because her shows are very physical and then having to travel too (yeah i know they aren't big distances, but still). Tyler 109
I remember she had to cut one show short in the UK cause the stadium was next to houses This was my show. It sounds ridiculous, but the houses were literally NEXT to the arena... Like, a minute on foot. I totally see where they were coming from and I'm not too bitter about Poker Face and Alejandro being cut. Americano would've been nice to see, though. Personally, I think she's acquired a taste for stadiums on this tour. She seems so excited by the fact there are so many monsters in one place. I remember she kept raving about the 55,000 monsters at the Twickenham show. Or was it 45,000? I don't remember, but the point still stands. Tweets like this, again about my show, support this theory. "Twickenham, im not even sure what to say. I'll never forget tonight. London you were the fairest of the ball. now THAT was f*cking fun." So yeah. I think she was originally against stadiums but, after playing them, she's found a fondness for them.
misanthrope 15
I know stadiums sound great and make her look good. But i prefer arenas and theatres. The smaller the venue the better in my opinion. Stadiums feel so disconnected unless your seat is legit.

But also give credit to the Twickenham audience!!! They were REALLY energetic and amazing!!

Pop Muse Tumblr 1
If: -the global economy is good, -ARTPOP is more or just as successful as "Born This Way", -there will be an ARTPOP tour, -we won't have to wait a whole year for the tour to start, and -Medoner doesn't happen to go on tour at the same time Then demand for Gaga concert tickets will be INSANE. Arenas won't be enough. I expect Gaga to sell 3-4 million tickets on a single tour sometime in the future- only THEN will she be in the touring league of MJ, Madonna, Tina Turner, U2, Rolling Stones, Queen etc. Then she'll get the crazy 250-300 million gross. Stadiums are better for Gaga's touring legacy. Look at Janet Jackson's earlier world tours between 1990 and 1998- she was a touring BEAST, going from one arena in one city to another arena in another city the next, doing 100 arena shows or so on each tour, selling 1-2 million tickets on each tour. She was the biggest female pop star in the world in 1993-1995 when she did her biggest, longest tour behind her biggest album. But since she barely did stadiums, no one remembers her touring accomplishments . People can pick up Michael Jackson's Wembley Stadium/Bucharest DVDs, Madonna's Sydney Cricket Ground/River Plate Stadium DVDs, Queen's Wembley Stadium DVD or Tina Turner's Maracana Stadium/Wembley Stadium DVDs and will think, "WOW, they can perform to so many people at once? That's touring power! They must be BIG and legendary- they weren't just a fad. The atmosphere looks so EPIC! Michael can do a bigger show than Prince. Madonna can do a bigger show than Janet (who has an Aloha Stadium DVD by the way). Queen can do a bigger show than Status Quo. Tina Turner can do a bigger show than Aretha Franklin." Arena statistics don't making touring legends. And Gaga deserves to be a touring legend. Above and beyond any superstar act who's topping the charts of the day and can fill an arena. She should do one stadium and one arena in all the big cities (e.g. New York, London, Melbourne), and stadiums in only the big countries. Some stadiums are indoor or have roofs (e.g. Etihad Stadium). Save the theatres for an anti-tour in the future. (And I found the atmosphere at Rod Laver Arena slightly boring so I'm biased. I also want to hear 40000-50000 people singing along with me to "The Edge of Glory" :haha: )
somechick 1
(And I found the atmosphere at Rod Laver Arena slightly boring so I'm biased. I also want to hear 40000-50000 people singing along with me to "The Edge of Glory" :haha: ) I was at one of the RLA shows too and I loved the atmosphere. I don't want to pay $200+ for a ticket to have to stand for 6 hours and not even see anything coz I'm so far back. That would make me less likely to want to go. I don't need to hear 50,000 people horribly singing along to TEOG. :P I went to Coldplay at Etihad last year (won tix from work to one of the corporate boxes) and tbh I could barely see a thing, even with the big screens up. I really did not enjoy it all that much. I was so freakin glad I was in the box because if I was in the GA area I would have freaked at the number of people. lol
