And there's usually one that everyone seems to love except you. What are your worst offenders? Mine are: The Waitresses - Christmas Wrapping (most obnoxious production and it just sounds like a consumerist anthem made to be played in shops) Slade - Merry Xmas Everybody (most depressing sounding Christmas song ever) Mariah Carey feat. Jennifer Hudson & Ariana Grande - Oh Santa! (the incessant clapping like a cheerleader chant and the lyrics are maximum cheese) Kelly Clarkson - Wrapped In Red (great singer but she takes it way too far here and her voice is like nails on a chalkboard) Ariana Grande - Santa Tell Me (just can't vibe with super modern Christmas songs) What are yours? ok big fat NO on christmas wrapping it’s such a quintessential christmas bop but the rest i can totes get on board with

PunkTheFunk 124,930
Out of the traditional Christmas songs, I don't really like Joy to the World and Deck The Halls. Out of the newer ones, Driving Home for Christmas, Grown Up Christmas List, Mistletoe by Justin Bieber...there's probably way more that I can't think of right now. Sarah H 3,877
I'm not a fan of Fairytale of New York. I've not really kept up with many Christmas songs past the 90s lol. Edited December 18 by Sarah H
hamartia 1,764
They play a lot of Christmas covers by Idina Menzel at my work and it's like... girl, calm down it's as if you can hear how wide she's opening her mouth to sing that sh*t "I lied. I lied!" (Germanotta, 2025)
RainOnGaga 638
All I Want For Christmas Is You is so overplayed now, and that Santa Tell Me I love all songs from Celine Dion's christmas album though

Batwings 12,904
That damn Christmas Shoes song. Patton Oswalt has a stand-up bit on YouTube about it, and it's hilarious. (I would post it here, but it's VERY NSFW, LOL.)

StrawberryBlond 15,050
So many of you saying ones I like! I always think of Driving Home For Christmas on drives home after Christmas shopping or on the final drive home from work before the Christmas break and I'm not even the one driving! I like how it references a normal person doing normal things at Christmas, instead of the classic 2 routes that most Christmas songs go down - pining for an ex that you hope is going to come back or doing fantastical things like going on sleigh rides that only exist in fantasy land for most of us. I don't know, I think it's one of the sweetest Christmas songs out there. 23 hours ago, southpaw773 said: All I want for Xmas is my two front teeth Forgot about this one! The fact this went #1 in January shows how thin on the ground new, good songs were back then! 23 hours ago, Hadrian said: And also the christmas shoes song about the little boy wanting shoes for his terminally ill mom? Like I get it, but come on man why (quick edit: i've never heard this one and i refuse to listen to it) Good one! Nostalgia Chick introduced me to this one years ago and there was also a book and a film about. It's very much your all-American Christian song that really appeals to a certain demographic but the rest of us listen to this and wonder why this boy is trying to find his dying mother shoes on Christmas Eve when he should just be spending time with her. What young boy even considers what shoes his mum wears or deems them important? I'm also wondering why she even needs shoes considering she's in a hospital bed. And I don't think any of these writers questioned the bizarre line about "I want her to look beautiful in case mama meets Jesus tonight." Makes it sound like if she dies wearing a pair of the hottest pumps, Jesus is going to want to make his move on her when she ascends to heaven! 22 hours ago, MACATL said: OMG agreed on Mariah/Ariana/Jennifer - haaaaaaaaaaate that song. Kelly’s Wrapped in Red stresses me out, and her unnecessary obligatory screaming IS nails to chalkboard. I can't get over the sheer amount of Christmas songs that involve grown women singing about Santa and asking him to make their wish come true (Santa Baby really started that trend) and is even weirder when they slightly sexualise the concept of Santa (again, you can thank Santa Baby for that). It's like such songs are aimed at children but the song's about romance, so it's not relevant to kids. It's a weird combo for sure. It's clear that they're used to their pop music themes and just wanted to do the same thing but Christmassy. Kelly sounds so maudlin and depressing when she sings Wrapped in Red, it's supposed to be this grand romantic song about true love and yet she doesn't sound happy. The chorus takes forever and a day to get through and when I was hearing this song every day on the shopping centre's playlist, I was always dreading this one and hoping that something would come up to distract me.
