I love the campiness, it‘s so fun, ooky spooky, unserious and the best kind of stupid. It tickles something in my brain.

Objectively she did try her hardest to make it hit. Made it part of a tv show, preformed it for mtv, did countless tiktoks and a hilarious tour moment. And instead of supporting it, for most the part this fanbase was bitching about it being meh compared to most Mayhem songs. Like would have I preferred a vid for Zombieboy, VIY or PC? Sure, but we got TDD and supported it as much as I could anyways while most people here spent the energy being disappointed or whatever.

Nothing went wrong. It's a great song, she has a lot of fun performing it, tens of thousand people dance and sing a long to it whenever she performs it, it has a great video by a super talented director with decades of experience. Some of y'all just need to accept that you as an individual don't like the song or the direction she chose for her music and her career and maybe stop looking for validation of your taste in a meaningless and pointless chart system where anybody can get high numbers if they invest their billions.

No one here is "shitting" on the song. People are saying what they don't like about the song with fair points and I think this is way more mature than forcing ourselves to stream and buy a song we don't like and censoring ourselves.

Mindlessly supporting everything that someone does and not allowing yourself to be critical about it is straight up some MAGA-level type of ****

Yet then we make threads with what went wrong when the reason is the fanbases hubris and lack of support :P And if she didn't release TDD or it was just a small clip during Wednesday people would be at her neck like with Act II,  Frankenstein etc. Or the perfect example of Babylon, when we got the Hauslabs version that everyone was crying about, and upon realse everyone shat on that as well because it didn't match their fantasy song they made from the leaks haha

 

I mean I am critical as well, and openly speak about using some fan versions here, but still when it counts I will stream and buy to help her get on top.

Ah yes.

A song being poorly recieved is the fault of the fans not the team behind it. 

No singer, even if I consider myself their biggest fan, is owed my support for everything they release.

I think it’s an absolute jam and predict that it will actually age pretty well, it’s so fun and goes hard for a funky dance track!

The fan reception was lukewarm because we were so thirsty for visuals from our own favorites on Mayhem, and teasing Gaga x Burton obviously was bound to set imaginations on fire. While the video we got is great in its own way you’re lying if you didn’t expect a long form Gaga mv ala MTN.

On a separate note: when she sings “Yeah I’ll keep on” I always hear “Onyankopon” like from Attack on Titan

I think the song is catchy as ****, it was the hype over Tim Burton directing the music video and the immediate drop off when it was shown the MV had a shoestring ass budget.

Agreed tbh. I think that the video they did is fine for the purposes of centering the choreography (with the obvious intention of trying to create a viral dance trend), but I honestly can’t help but imagine what could’ve been if we had a true Burton x Gaga level video that was a continuation of the Mistress storyline from Disease + Abra. They should’ve just had her record a choreo vid separately and then she should’ve gone bigger with the vid itself.

If the team deemed it good enough to release, we as a fanbase who are constantly moaning for more content in terms of videos, music etc should at least try to get it to be good on charts to show the managment theres interest for such things. She could have easily just released the song for wednesday with no video, did no vma preformance nor included it on the setlist and called it a day (which would have cause meltdowns as her not caring for the song), but she chose to deliver on all terms, even more than with Disease.

But, back to Bronco’s point, why would fans force themselves to be interested in a song/vid they’re not interested in? (I say this as someone who really enjoys TDD, btw)
