RAMROD 117,008
A UK woman was hospitalized after an Apple TV+ Pluribus advert displayed on her Samsung smart fridge led her to believe someone was attempting to communicate with her. https://www.dexerto.com/tv-movies/woman-hospitalized-after-pluribus-ad-on-smart-fridge-triggers-psychotic-episode-3290678/ (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ✧*:・゚ ᶠʳᵒⁿᵗ ᵗᵒʷᵃʳᵈ ᵉⁿᵉᵐʸ (*´艸`*) ♡♡♡ 7
Phaye Monster 8,801
I didn’t even realise these things had ads??? So you pay hundreds for an appliance just to get more ads??? What in the overconsumption late stage capitalism world hope the individual involved is alright. I’d be freaked out too if my fridge started sending messages with my name on it I'm an ARTPOP bitch, baby
Cavadour 2,704
Pluribus is excellent. But I concede that the story could trigger a psychotic episode in sensitive individuals! Especially if your name is Carol and your connected fridge starts talking to you ! Late to the party but I got a diamond heart
Lisbeth Salander 465
There needs to be a bigger discourse in this area. A bit off topic but still - from what I understood AI sites like Chat GPT can also be very triggering for individuals with severe mental illnesses. This should be properly addressed.
Murakami27 8,437
We don’t need smart appliances like fridges and toasters and microwaves. Ads invading every aspect of our lives have reached an insane level.
PartySick 172,448
"My fridge was showing me ads" "Sorry, my car needed wifi" This is not the cyberpunk future I wanted Just get a normal refrigerator girl (generally speaking). Why does an appliance have to be smart when it's literal only purpose is to keep things cold Whimsical bitch

PEZ 6,592
Tbh I'm impressed with the schizophrenic woman here. She made a difficult but very responsible choice in going to A&E to keep herself safe and get her condition/medications/etc. reviewed instead of staying home with the trigger and risking her mind spiraling further. It's difficult to initialize yourself into that sort of thing when you're in that state of mind so good for her. ⚡🐲 7
Oriane 22,748
Fridges having ads is creepy. With that said, when I first read the story, I thought it was horrible for her, but then I saw the picture and it's very obviously an ad with the logo, CTA etc. I don't know how terrible her state must be for her to completely miss that in her panic. The only GGD member who can read / Credits to Celloo Deng for the profile pic!
