I hated the movies, but I want to watch the series because its HBO, and they do everything good. Is it better than the movies?

I’m really liking it too. The end of the first ep was so shocking to me. It’s going really hard for a TV show, def not watered down.

I can't say if it's better or worse than the movies but it's great! Set in the 1960s I think, focused on a group of kids being tormented as well as the military/government trying to find IT.

The grocery store scene was so sick. Also the  scene in that same ep with the threatening womb , I don’t know how to describe it. Crazy. The only scene so far that I felt missed the mark a bit was the cemetery chase because it seemed too lighthearted and Disney. But everything else has been scary and cool!

Completely agreed, I just watched the graveyard scene like 20 min ago and it was the only time I've been like .. ok let's move on, let's change it up, cheesy + the CGI was kinda meh. but! don't mind if that's the only meh scene in 3 episodes!

PSYCHOSHTICK

It’s so good!! I had to get into it with the first two episodes, but after that I’ve been exited for every new episode.

It's weird because I am reading the book for the first time ever as I am watching the show and let me just say there are a ton of easter eggs that i recognized haha

The book is great. Recommended if you love horror and worldbuilding. It is massive though so be prepared, it's going to take a while to read ahah

The show is good too. Definitely one of the better horror shows that came out this year. My only critique is that I wish they didn't rely on CGI as much as they did. The graveyard scene especially took me out of it and made the whole episode feel kind of cheap

Until then, this is Elvira saying unpleasant dreams.

The tone of the show matches the novel more than any other related project imo

Love how dark they're going with it and love love love that we get to see so many of the interlude stories from the book. The indigenous getting the reverence they deserve; they're the backbone of several King stories but hardly ever get properly respected in the adaptations.

Hoping praying crying shidding and farding that they get the 3 seasons they've planned. We, as a society, need to witness what really happened at the Ironworks Easter explosion.

This is my Hannah Montana™️ lipgloss.

I'm really enjoying it. The two movies were okay, but it felt like they pulled punches and the CGI was rarely convincing. The CGI is still not perfect here, but they're really leaning into surreal, unsettling encounters with the monster, and that stuff is scarier than anything in the movies.

No, imo. The plot structure is pretty derivative (very Twin Peaks meets X Files), the writing is pretty weak, and I think the only redeeming part is the visuals for the parts where the people in Derry encounter IT.
