chewing on pearls

marry the night... I was a freshman in high school, and the day BTW came out I pressed play on the album during my lunch period. I remember having goosebumps and thinking "I can do anything". At the time I had been outed by a fellow classmate and sort of re-entered the closet because I wasn't fully ready for everyone to know I was gay. to this day, that song gives me such renewed power and resilience...

also, rain on me came out hours after I was dumped during the pandemic... dancing around in my apartment and spamming the group text with my friends when the song came out healed me so fast hahaha

I remember being closeted in a wrestling fraternity in college and showed my straight roommate the Bad Romance video and he said it was the coolest thing he'd ever seen and was externally trying to play it cool but internally I was freaking out so happy, like we made it, reaching the straights :derpga:

I came out to my parents and then drove back home blasting Born This Way. I'll never forget it and will always be indebted to Gaga for her bravery and passion to be unique and fully authentic, always

Perfect Ilusion played during a particularly difficult time for me and the lyrics making metaphors of substances/the high of a relationship that was toxic reflected my life at the time, realizing later this person was not for me. It sounds parasocial but so many of the lyrics at the time hit home so hard :traumatica:

Applause was released around the time that I met my current partner/now husband. He liked Gaga but after this song came out he came to love her especially after we went to ArtRave together. He loved the song so much he put "I live for the applause" in his work email signature :laughga:

I proposed to my now husband and later got married to Always Remember Us This Way. We were in Maui and it was sunset and absolutely beautiful when I got down on one knee. "When the sun goes down, and the band won't play...I'll always remember us this way" is the perfect lyric. It later played as we walked down the aisle together during our wedding, and now we have a blanket with this lyric on our bed where the magic happens:vegas:

The Joanne album bc she’s just a girl with a complicated relationship with her father partly due probably to unresolved trauma on her dads behalf, and his not understanding her, and her middle name belongs to her passed aunt.

I also have a complicated relationship with my dad who has unresolved trauma, does not understand me and my middle name belongs to my dads passed brother.

Hair - Coming out as gay.

Aura (demo) - Leaked as I had my first bipolar hypomanic episode. Truly transcendent experience. I was on vacation at the time, felt better than any drug.

Perfect Illusion - Explains itself.

911 - Around the time I was actually diagnosed with bipolar and prescribed olanzapine (the drug the song is about).

Vanish Into You - I finally met my friend who I'd known for 15 years at the MAYHEM ball. I love her to pieces. I had a lot of social anxiety for a long time, lots of missed opportunities. Anyway, it's her favourite song and I love the song. We both cried as she sang it lol.

Fooled Me Again (Honest Eyes) was what I sang to soothe myself when I was so ill with a recurrent virus that I genuinely thought I was dying. I was singing the song to my virus. That line: "well, that's alright baby, I'm nobody's mother, but I don't want this last cigarette to be over" hits so hard when you think you're dying, it made the tears flow and it still moves me to this day.

Teeth was the song I suggested we dance to in my modern tap class and we dressed up as dentists for it! If it had actually been filmed properly, I'd be tempted to post it!

Fun Tonight was quite impactful on me because Chromatica came out at a time when I was quite stressed out and had poor mental health and while the whole album isn't my favourite, I can totally get behind a lot of the messages that album put forward.

Disease happened when I was in a very dark time period and I could relate so much!

And then Abracadabra came as I was overcoming that dark time, so it was perfect too!

There's actually too many weird connections to count.

Not to mention A LOT of releases are around October 8, which is my birthday. So I always feel like I get birthday presents when it's early or mid October releases, like ASIB etc.

Notable releases for me were Joanne (Where Do You Think You're Going) Piano version music video came out as I left my home city of 24 years and moved to the other side of Australia.. she was literally singing to me girl where do you think you're going?

The Cure - it had been released not long before, my Grandpa passed away, and as I said goodbye to him in the hospital and I walked out to the car to cry and drive home, The Cure suddenly started playing on the radio the second I entered the car, which is one of my fave Gaga songs.

The melody that you choose can rescue you ♥

Hold My Hand came out just in time to be my wedding song :legend:

Overall tho, I dont think her songs have ever been released in perfect timing to be extra relatable. "I'll Never Love Again" which was my fav Gaga song at the time came out about 1 year too early. If it came out just 1 year later it would have been my perfect breakup song
