Variety Forgetting that Lady Gaga and Cher Exists

The way they’re making a big deal that a sequel to huge hit is now also a hit, and as if Ariana’s involvement is the reason part 2 is a hit is absurd.  The test of whether Ariana’s film success is viable is her next film that’s not an extension of Wicked.

gaga has to do the same not stop picking roles that involve music, the biggest thing ppl hated about joker 2 was that they had musical elements in it, and i agree it just doesnt make sense and its corny AF

I actually think she’s being smart doing the fockers one as that’s something that will have pretty broad appeal and show her funny side. It’s clear she likes to have fun with her roles so I don’t think it’s bad to pick that sort of lane. Gaga’s roles are kinda all over the place but usually deal in darkness or macabre which I feel pigoenholes her to the Gaga persona too much. She needs to keep an ear to the indie scene bc there’s a LOT of roles there she could do as she clearly wants roles with meat and range and transformation. Big hollywood is not going to provide that it’s mostly garbage schlock nowadays.

The biggest part of this insult: Ariana did both movies in one swoop. So she quite literally didn’t do it „twice“. 
 

I loved her performance in Wicked, but it was the same team recording both movies together, at the same time, the same musical in 2 acts. It‘s quite frankly THE SAME BODY OF WORK.

She was in Cats (2019) which was a massive flop  Any of her other film roles (Valentine's Day, The Giver, Amsterdam) were just cameos

OMG the way I blocked this out of memory... I could see her almost doing better in that role just because it takes desperate theatre kid energy to kill it, but even then I feel like she forces that energy and was probably someone who bullied theatre kids in school  (or looked down on them/judged them silently at least)

Yeah but Ariana also only had Wicked, and Gaga only has ASIB. I wouldnt say Ariana is the only one that made it as an actress. Gaga, Cher, Jennifer Hudson, Frank Sinatra, and Barbra Streisand..

But she could not have known the results of the 2 movies. Playing an Italian murderess from the 80s sounds perfect for her, and Joker as well. ASIB is the only one that should have been a risk

HOG and Joker were both weird choices for her. 

making joker a musical film ruined the movie when it couldve been a success.
