Especially for how vital it was to her early career how important her legacy is to popular fashion, and the way she's described this era as a going back of sorts to her early self...it feels like a HUGE elephant in the room is she never talks about her fashions with any sort of passion or specific knowledge anymore. Even on Joanne, we had her discussing the intentions behind the all black "uniform" and the pink hat, whereas Mayhem we're not really getting insights into the visual look of the era with a great deal of specificity. And yeah, her absence from the fashion world is felt at these shoes especially as her throwback early looks are starting to make fashion account "remember when" rotations. She doesn't need the exposure of being seen at a show to get designers to want to work with her, or for any other kind of exposure. When you can basically have any designer dress you at the drop of a hat, I can't imagine sitting at the shows would be overly entertaining or worthwhile. Just my opinion, but one quick look at the 'la maison Gaga' account on Twitter/Instagram/website will show you she's certainly not absent from the fashion world right now! She *is an icon but is SO much removed more removed of it than she used to be and I wonder why. Like it used to feel like she was so intentional about why she wore something even if it seemed initially odd. Her visual art was directly tied to fashion so much so that bad romance had the runway walk breakdown in it. But she hasn’t really bled fashion like that for ages. She looks great, make no mistake, but she used to really passionately talk to and about fashion a lot more. She’s good friends with Hedi Slimane so she attended his CELINE debut to support him; Alexander Wang was about to dress her for the MET and she was in Paris for fittings, so she attended his Balenciaga show; she’s obviously close with Donatella so she attended a Versace show to coincide with the campaign she was the face of, and so on… You have to keep in mind that a lot of people’s reason for attending fashion shows is to simply show their faces… Nothing wrong with that per se, but let’s rejoice Gaga isn’t one of those people.
