gerrygaga 5,121
Update: "bandaids" failed to debut inside Top 40 of UK Official Singles chart. It entered at #61, worse than Woman's World (#47).

StrawberryBlond 15,045
I knew it would miss top 40 as the midweeks always overestimate and there's still a few days left for a song to fall but I didn't think it would go that low. It's crazy how all her leads are debuting worse than the last. Katy's leads used to climb debut at #1 in the UK with ease. I Kissed A Girl, California Gurls, Part of Me and Roar were instant classics here. Chained to the Rhythm only went to #5 despite promo and it was all downhill from there. It's like her fans stopped being a streaming force overnight. It seems the rest of the world isn't biting either even though people seem to like it and praise her for going back to her roots. I think part of the reason is because she hasn't made it clear if it's the lead from a new album or a standalone. When the intention is not clear, the audience tends to match that confusion with a lukewarm reception as fans don't know whether to go all-in with support even if they dislike it or just let it fall if they're not feeling it. But either way, this must be hard for Katy to cope with, especially considering this is a personal, vulnerable song about breaking up with her child's father. Whatever you think of her, this feeling of "no matter what I do, it's never good enough" must be real.

Whatever you think of her, this feeling of "no matter what I do, it's never good enough" must be real. The rejection must be super hard to be honest, and I can appreciate that even though I'm not fond of her. The way I see it, she's free now - her days on the charts are over but that opens up a creative field for her to make any kind of music she likes, for herself. Whether she has it in her is yet to be discovered but I'd love to see her just drop anything and experiment with different vibes and sounds
