Sorry, I’m not disagreeing With you (though JKB wouldn’t be my personal pick).
I’m just saying that the colour of his skin doesn’t come into it. It’s all down to publicity and promotion, isn’t it?

Because men of colour (yes even in the queer community) are overlooked by average looking white men. You can’t call him the “Sexiest Man Alive” when he’s not even the sexiest working male actor nnn

Hard not to when the overwhelming majority of men on this list are white. 
 

You cannot argue that whether this lines up with whatever big movie or project they’re promoting, it’s being shoved down our throat that you have to be white to be considered conventionally attractive or “sexy”. It’s promotion of their project, and the promotion of beauty standards. Two things can exist at once. This is nothing new.

So yeah the topic of race will always come up in these situations. Not everyone has the privilege to sweep it under the rug.

I agree that it disproportionately goes to white guys, but I honestly just think he’s a worthy recipient and isn’t exactly a great example of “white mediocrity”

I can’t hate on the choice.  Those eyes, that smile, and he’s charming as hell.  
 

Also the racial comments in here -yikes.  It’s gotten to where if a Caucasian person is selected for anything, then it’s shameful because a POC could have/should have been selected instead.  I’m 100% for fairness and equality, but some folks are losing touch.

I’m not losing touch for bringing up something that affects PoC everyday and we can’t ignore it or sweep it away. Y’all are out of touch for turning a blind eye

I mean all the comments about skin colour are on the money because this is a magazine that has predominantly chosen white men because its part of an industry that's spent decades establishing specific beauty ideals that are nearly always predominantly seen in white people.

As for the arguments about whether hes the hottest person etc - y'all realise attractiveness is subjective right?

The problem is Caucasian people are selected for everything and anything. It’s not losing touch, it’s waking up.
