RochestrMonstr 3,484
I’ve briefly seen and/or mentioned this a couple times in other threads, but I’m actually quite interested. If Perfect Celebrity is held in such high regard (plenty of people wish the whole album sounded like this) Then why is Can’t Stop The High so generally regarded as one of the worst songs on the album? I just think they have a very similar sound and so I find it interesting how they are received so differently. 7 1 1

elsamars 4,328
There’s more to a song than just its sound. Lyrics, melody, production elements etc. Just because they have the same sound doesn’t mean they have to be liked equally.

BELLYACHE 1,395
CSTH is not on the standard for a reason but the “I got a feeling” parts is one of the best parts of mayhem

REALITY 77,943
Is CSTH considered one of the worst songs on the album?? It's one of the best songs, and I think the general consensus is that it's good. Its inclusion (+ KFL and TDD) is much needed for the album imo. I think all three songs help balance out the album's sounds even more. Ngl I feel like before the reissue a lot of fans used to **** on CSTH + KFL because they had heard them like once and it was inconvenient for them to listen to them so they just wrote them off, but once the tracks became easier to stream a lot of the liddos immediately changed their tune Edited November 3 by Ladle Ghoulash We have forgotten our public MANNERS 2 1 1
TheFrenchGuy 1,381
It grew on me and I do like CSTH but it’s definitely not on the level of Perfect Celebrity. That song is visceral, personal and cathartic. My issue with CSTH is that the lyrics are a bit whatever to me. It doesn’t have the same dept.
Anderson123 39,521
Both are great songs but Perfect Celebrity is way superior. The lyrics, the hooks, the energy, the mysterious instrumental, that ending, etc. Can’t Stop The High is also fun but sounds a bit more like an Alanis Morissette jam session they did in the studio trying to find that sound. Not in a bad way of course, in the best possible way because even Gaga’s bonus tracks have that SOMETHING that makes them stand out. This is why Gaga only picks those 15~ songs out of 50+ she writes/records. And that’s why Can’t Stop The High and Kill For Love weren’t part of the original standard version. They’re great songs but LoveDrug, How Bad Do U Want Me and Don’t Call Tonight as much as fans like to call them skips, have more of a “finished” or standard version worthy touch to them. To me the thing that those 3 songs have that CSTH and KFL lack is a personal touch in the songwriting. You can tell Gaga had something genuine to express through those tracks, she's talking to someone (Michael, her fans and her Father) whereas the bonus songs feel a bit more generic. They deal with broader sentiments but don’t really set a scene or tell a story.
julz 7,574
I feel like if CSTH is performed live, people will appreciate it more. Vote 4 Gaga: https://mtv.com/event/vma/vote 3
julz 7,574
...and i really want PC to be a single. I dont care if it wont chart, it just needs to have a music video and more performances, other than the sandbox with skeletons.
